Geese have been fairing better than Ducks regarding reproduction for a number of years. Snow Geese have been overpopulated for many years also......hence the "No Limit,Electronic calls, no plug" Spring Snow Goose Season. I believe they are beginning to come further Southeast in there migration in search of additional food sources. There have been several sightings in Alabama the last few years. They live for 20 plus years and once they have survived for 4 or more years they are some Difficult Sumbitches to get to Decoy. So.....the old ones live on/reproduce and a large majority of what is killed are Juveniles.

That one wasn’t much bigger then a Mallard not close to the size of a Canadian.

That’s a Ross’s Goose. I would’ve turned him a flip. I need one to add to my goose collection. Killed them all here but a Ross and a speck.

I’ve killed several Ross. And have one mounted. Killed it in Waterloo passing over the gravel bar.

Ross have short neck and short bill compared to the snow goose. That one looks like it has a short neck but it’s not the best to tell. I’ve seen more Ross that were loners than snows. But I have had loner snow at the farm a few times.
