I replaced the hubs on my in laws’ boat trailer a few years ago. They came pre-packed in that green grease. I had never used the stuff before, but bought an extra tube or two at the auto parts store for the job. I pulled the boat down to Florida, checking the temp on the hubs every so often, with no issues. They pulled it back to Mississippi and have been rolling around a couple years on those hubs and I haven’t heard of any issues.

I wonder if the outside temperature was the reason the grease was so viscous, unless you were in a garage. It was pretty chilly yesterday. I don’t remember having trouble getting grease going in the spindle, but I do remember that I did the job in the summer.
