I liked roadmart because I could drop it off and they were done with it in 2 hours and I could pick it up with no appointment. Scott Steven’s is always so busy it takes forever. My dependable mechanic that owned a local auto shop here in Dothan just passed away 2 weeks ago. I am now on the hunt for a new “guy”. I may give Noblitts a try.

RockAuto.com….Can get great pads and rotors for next to nothing and better quality than what you will find at Autozone, O’Reilly etc.

You know I've heard of them but never bought from them....just looked at their site and it looks like they'd be roughly 1/2 the price of Oreilly's on rotors/pads as well as Oil/Filters. I've stopped doing my own oil/filter changes because I literally cannot buy the oil/filter from Oreilly/AZ any cheaper than paying someone else to do it. But as long as Rock Auto doesn't bend you over on shipping, they seem to have it going on.

Spinoff to this topic...does anyone have any input on a reputable auto shop is Starkville, MS? My youngest will be starting school up there this fall and I need to find someone that she can take her car to that won't try to nickel and dime her (me) to death. I didn't think about doing this when my oldest started school in Tuscaloosa until it was too late and she needed to take her's somewhere.

With RockAuto, everything I've ordered from them has been cheaper, even with the shipping, than local parts houses. If you can plan the work and order the parts, RockAuto is great.

Aint no different than eddie preuitt ford in hartselle telling me that the engine in our ‘13 f150 had had a catastrophic failure to the tune of $7800 to fix. Got it fixed for less than half that and he said we prolly could have gotten by without replacing a bunch but did because “they were there already”. Stealerships and stealershops…hard to find an honest mechanic.

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

I change my own brakes, rotors, and oil. I do the rest of the household's too. I suggest ya'll do the same. Most of you can do it easily. You just need a couple hours on a weekend and some tools. Pull up Youtube videos with your specific make, year, and model and you got it.

I buy a lot of parts from them. The only thing you have to look out for is if you are buying several different item #s, they can ship from several different places and it costs separate shipping charges for each shipment. you can play around and get most or all from the same place and save more money. You may have to buy the $23 part instead of the$20 part to save $10 shipping.

Another thing you can do is look up the part # of what you need and buy it off Amazon. If you go to the parts house and ask for a rear wheel bearing for a Toyota pickup, you'll spend $38-50. If you know it takes a 6308 2rs bearing, you can get those as cheap as 4 for $20 on Amazon with free shipping.

I know who you are talking about. He was a great guy to deal with.
I took my more significant stuff to him.
I can vouch for Noblitt too. I know several people who use and trust him.

Spot on Buckshot77! It’s very shocking the amount of money you can save by doing so.

No doubt you can save $$$’s DIY’s and nothing is wrong with that, just wondering what the quality of the bearings are when you can get 4 for $20 instead of the $38-50 bearing understanding they have to make some $$. I guess some of my problems with this is, we wanna MAGA only if doesn’t affect our checkbook and I am not totally innocent in this either

William Wells will nickle and dime you to death on top of initial high price. My first choice is Performance Auto out by the MSU Golf course on HWY 182E Another one with good reviews is on Louisville Street just passed Starkville Public School (Raymond's Auto Repair). Cole's Auto Repair is in the back of the NAPA place on HWY 12 and use NAPA parts. A+ Auto Repair on MLK drive (west end) has been good for foreign models (Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Acura, BMW, etc) and there is another foreign auto place further out Louisville Street that I've heard good things about - A&R Foreign Auto.
There are a couple more I've heard good things about, but not sure of the names...one on University Drive across from Bulldog Burger and another on other end of MLK drive across from Red Roof Inn/Dave's Darkhorse Tavern.

Thank you...that info will come in handy should something happen to her car (Hyundai) and she needs to get it checked. With me being 3+ hours away from Starkville, it's hard to just hop in the truck and drive up to check it out for her.

Ok so I checked my wife’s brakes today. They did need to be replaced BUT they weren’t metal on metal as they said and didn’t need the rotors replaced. SO it went from $425 to $70 bucks for premium pads/supplies and my time.
