Dog went straight to him and jumped him about 300yds from the shot. The buck almost ran over the tracker. He said he saw no visible wound on the side of the deer which made him think it was low gut or flesh wound. He also said the only blood he found was the same few drops we found. He called it and he said that deer is fine and will live. He said the buck probably just went back to his bedding area in some thick pines after the shot. He was a fine young man with 2 beautiful blood hounds. Thanks to everyone that helped us out.

Well dang that sucks! Might want to take him to the range tomorrow I think his nerves got the best of him. He’s used to hunting in Texas. He’s never hunted anything where you have to make quick decisions and be kinda fast on the trigger. He was hunting a narrow power line got to excited and really rushed it. He’s still pretty tore up and said he’s not hunting anything like that again. He want to hunt areas where he has more time to judge and shoot.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Hey Johnv, can you share the list for Lowndes, Dallas and Butler please. If you have Facebook go to Alabama Blood Trailing network Hit featured at the top and see more A list will pop up with all the counties listed When you find the list, Art Powers is the only name you need to know. He's a great guy and serious about tracking down deer.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Hang on a minute......I thought you had a tracking dog?? I was waiting for that!! I was expecting it. I told that to the guy that wanted the dog. I told him I was gonna catch it from you. Karma will eventually catch up with everyone giving the trackers a hard time…..…It’s almost inevitable that “your time” will come if you hunt long enough and shoot at enough deer. Hope y'all find it...... I never said I was against trackers using dogs. As I recall, I said I thought it’s one of the best tools to happen to deer hunting. I said I’d rather me try to find the deer myself before using a dog. With the sign we had at the place of the impact, I New this buck was not going to be dead within a reasonable distance and the hunter wanted to try a dog. At no fault of the tracker and his beautiful dogs, it played out just as I suspected. The buck went right back to his bedroom and laid up. The dogs jumped him and ran him across a county road and off the property. The buck will be fine and is probably back in his bed this morning. I’m not proud to say that I’ve made this same shot a few times and the outcome has always been the same. I was hoping it would be different but it wasn’t. At the end of the day we met a great guy and his dogs and started a friendship and he offered to track for us any time we need. Always something good can come out of something bad.

The moral to this story and most like it is most folks can’t make quartering shots worth a dam and ought to stop trying until they learn to shoot Quartering away and facing up a steep hill. He got to excited and rushed. We’ve all done it and learned from it. He is an Army vet. and he said nothing in his career shook him up like at situation did yesterday morning watching that buck chasing that doe across that power line several times and not stopping. He’s used to hunting in Texas where he can take his time and judge the deer and wait in the perfect shot. We all had a good laugh with him about it and got that behind him. He is now hunting more open areas where he can see more.
