Been catching a few coons and trying to catch one last beaver. He's 3 legged now since they busted a dam and dropped the water without me knowing. I was walking across a beaver dam at daylight this morning and ran into a hornets nest. I got popped 7 times trying to run through the mud. Covered myself with mud slapping hornets off. Several got down in my wadders so I ended up taking them off. All of this happened before 5:30 am You must have really gotten close to have them attack that early. I hate stinging things! I literally ran into it head first

Noticed some beaver activity on my 5 acre pond a few weeks ago. Had them gone for several years then noticed some small pines cut down. Put out two MB750 traps but couldn't find my castor lure. Called around and Co-Op said they had some. Went down and purchased. It said it was a lure for racoons/muskrat and beavers??
Next day I had a drowned coon in one trap and nothing else. Left the one trap and ordered some beaver castor.
Reset the one trap last week and put the castor at both sets. One large beaver in trap the next day. Reset trap and had to leave for a few days so hope to check this weekend.
Not sure how many beavers would be in the pond, I mow around part of the pond every week so feel I spotted the new activity soon after they showed up. Guessing it may just be a couple of beavers??
Any thoughts??

Any thoughts?? More than likely a pair trying to move in but could just be a single. They get kicked out at around 2 years old so if it was one 2 year old that could be it

You should pull the castor sacks out when you catch one. Only takes a couple minutes. I hang mine up to dry and mix vodka and vegetable glycerin in it. Just run it through a cheap food processor. Some people use mineral spirits but from my experience the vodka and glycerin seem to work better for me Thanks for info

Pulled my traps last week. No more beavers and no sprung/empty traps. Guessing it was just a single 2 year old beaver. Will keep an eye out for any other activity and maybe go back with traps in 4-6 months. Beavers are smart so if there is another one, he may have become educated so will give him time to get careless.
