There’s a few counties and trends I’m curious about……Some of the counties in the southeast corner really saw some big jumps in doe harvest…..Bullock Co 34% over……Reckon that’s gonna make the hunting better?? Maybe Bullock county had less predatory fawn kills which resulted in a higher than average herd for the county.

The great news is that the increase % on buck harvest is almost double the increase in doe harvest. Yeah alabama! We’ve already got a piss poor age structure so let’s take even more bucks out of the mix and really increase the rut stress.

Many more parcels of land being utilized as “hunting properties” now in these areas…..Many more folks finding 5-20 acres in the land of milk and honey to put feeders on and “manage” the doe population and “fix” the bad buck to doe ratio caused by overharvesting of bucks…..

Also, if there are any rules that help people without huge or great tracks of land to better enjoy hunting, a lot of high end blow hards are going to harp about how bad it is for the deer. There’s nothing wrong with killing deer on 5 or less acres over a pile of corn. It's only pointing out what is actually occurring from a rational standpoint…… nothing to do with the emotional stance you're trying to make that’s taking up for the little man or what’s right or wrong, high end blow hards, etc…..We’re just talking about basic accounting here for numbers in and numbers out. There’s a lot more being taken out…..that’s just a fact

I know that when they changed the rule and made it legal to shoot two does a day then the graph line started going up until we thinned the herd out….then it started trending down because there wasn’t as many deer to shoot anymore…..Same thing is happening now…..A rule was changed that is getting more deer killed and the trend line has been going up as we thin them out….. The only difference is baiting took the place of 2 per day as the catalyst

Dang it man…..I might ought to make another set of “final maps”….I didn’t think that many more deer would get checked in but quite a few counties have added another 3-5% onto the harvest totals just since I started this thread.....Maybe a lot of folks just wait until the end to check in that 3rd buck.

Think about it like this.... no matter what the maps say I've got a problem with doe blasting neighbors from opening day of gun season to end of gun season. Year In/Year Out. Doesn't matter what the maps say or don't say.
And I'm not alone. Plenty of hunters in this State have to deal with neighbors like I have. I obviously complain about it 24/7 so it would stand to reason I have others tell me their situation and you'd be surprised how many others out here have to deal with a bunch of lead slinging idiots. The a result is nobody can properly manage their property.
You can make these maps tell you just about anything you want but what can never accounted for are these 3-5 mile diameter circles of mismanagement. If you put them on the map they would probably make that map look like you shot it with birdshot. There'd be that many IMO.
I also bet over 50% of bucks harvested in AL are 2.5 or younger. 90% 3.5 or younger.
Our age structure is in the toilet for a reason.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

I wonder how many does in Lauderdale were really bucks missing antlers in the last 2-3 weeks. Several I’m sure There were quite a few killed in several counties over the last two weeks. I know last weekend about 20% of bucks brought in to one processor had shed both sides. I know last weekend about "20% of bucks brought in to one processor had shed both sides" This is insanity.

Without knowing the overall population year to year these number mean nothing. If the numbers stay constant over time then it means that the herd is able to sustain that level of harvest year after year……sustainable yield
