We hunted in Marengo County in the late 80s/early 90s, when I was in high school. One morning, I decided to hunt out of a ladder stand we had. I got my stuff together and my dad dropped me off on the road to the ladder stand about 45 minutes before sunup. I found the stand and started climbing...until I was about 2 rungs from the top. That is when the turkey that was roosting right above the stand decided to take flight. I could have swore that a Blackhawk helicopter was taking off right above my head. I jumped off the ladder and was about to high tail it back to the camp when I realized what it was.
