This is heartbreaking for the family. Hopefully the dog is dead. Link says it’s a neighbor’s dog and the family’s are friends. I’ll bet they aren’t now. Who needs that type dog anyway? I’m a dog lover but any dog can turn on a child including my lovable sweet acting field trail Labrador retrievers who lick and watch over my granddaughter. They are animals and you just can’t be to careful, but certain breeds are more prone to aggressive behavior I'd bet that nearly ever problem dog was known to be a problem dog before hand . I know it not always the case. If I was getting stuck with a pencil or some thing I'd bite too. I don’t care the breed. A 4 year old should be able to poke at a dog all day without this. Or so much as a growl. Period. I don’t care what a kid does if they receive an aggressive response he gotta go. Some dogs just don’t do well around kids. I have no idea this situation. If someone knew it could get aggressive at all towards a kid it is their fault. Not the dogs fault. Some are just old grouches that have no place with kids. But with an older master they can be perfect angels. But in no way is it the kids fault. Poke or no poke. in no way i meant it was ok for a dog to bite . but it aint ok to allow a kid to poke a dog either to where it hurts . a reaction bite aint the same as as bite from a known aggressive dog

This same situation happens over and over. When is enough, enough? never , cause if the ban all pits and all pit mixes . people will still have problem dogs . you'll just have another misunderstood bred . pits and mixes kill more people simply cause there are more of them . just like banning ar15s people just get a different gun

Frankie, a little research says you are wrong.
66% of Fatal Dog Bite Deaths Caused by Pit Bulls From their data collection, they found 346 of 521 deaths were from pit bull attacks. Rottweilers made up 10%, followed by German Shepherds, mixed-breed, American Bulldog, Mastiffs, and Huskies.
Less than 6% of all dogs are pit bulls.
They are not good pets. Period.
ok first , thats comes from a bs site ran by animal rights people . next the data its bs . ever where , ever site that states those numbers comes from the same place . even at the CDC !!!!! but thats not what i said . there are more bites , attacks' from pits simply because more people own them . higher population naturally means more bites from that a breed . oh and believe me ive done the research . lol

Please pray for this family. They’re really good people. Our Childrens pastor was formerly at their church. He spoke very highly of the family especially Grandmother. He was tore up

There is no such thing as an “Old English Bulldog”. They’ve been extinct for a couple hundred years or more. I’m sure the breed they’re talking about is an Olde English Bulldoge (no typo) which is a high dollar mix breed - English Bulldog, American Bulldog, American Pit Bull Terrier, and Mastiff. just to add, its not a mixed breed dog. A mixed breed dog is exactly like it sounds, 2 or more different breeds. The modern OEB is a breed, which means that there has been 3 generations of the same dog bred. Then it can be registered as a breed. What most folks now call pure bred. Hope that makes sense.

If y'all need any dogs killed let me know. I like #4 buck for Bulldogs.
The art of taking a dog for a long ride is also underutilized. You can get a head catch for real cheap off at any of the trapping supply places I've got one you can just choke one out with the noose if you don't want to shoot it or live in the city. Find a good bridge over a creek somewhere out of town where you can throw them out.
I love dogs BTW just not partial to those that try to bite people.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Just to add to this. The family that owns the dog is a super great family too. I’m not sure if the entire situation and how it happened. Just speculation but was told the dog was in its yard and the kid came over to pet it like he had done a 100 times before. Pit bull roulette.

I guess if you search for old english bulldog you get a bunch of pitbull looking dogs.
Oh well just the price you have to accept to own a killer dog. Well actually it's mostly neighbors and small family members that pay the price.

The pound is absolutely full of pits and mixed with pits. I can think of few breeds more dangerous than the pit but isn’t the overall number of pit pit/mixes the odds are much higher
That said from what I’ve learned about the Olde English Dogge breed it has more English, 50%, than anything which is a milder temperament. The other 3 are equally divided
Attacks happen and it is not always breed dependent but the odds are a bulldog of some sort.
A friend called and told me the other night and called it a mastiff and we talked about mastiffs. He knows some involved in the situation and I mean it was horrible for all involved. I can’t even imagine if I owned that dog. Prayers for all in that ordeal.
Heck I had a chocolate lab I wouldn’t let kids around. He was scare of loud sudden outburst etc… and even grownups talking baby talked to him I had to be vigilant when others were around us. Pointing out it’s not just pits.
