1. Fire Chuck. Then shoot him
2. Fire everyone who had a hand in that CWD debacle
3. find out where all this corn money is going and fire and prosecute the slicks stealing privilege funds
4. Make it against the law for any State official to so much as step foot on an SOA
5. Codify some legislation that makes it illegal to put any CURRENT open permit public land into the SOA system- acquire new lands? fine whatever, but no current property

Private land- Season: Oct 1- Feb 10 statewide.
Bow Season Oct 1 - Feb 10
Rifle season Thanksgiving Day- Feb 10
Shoot however many you want, it is your land, you paid for it, everyone else can pound sand

Public land- Season: Oct 1- Feb 10 statewide
Bow Season Oct 1 - Feb 10
Rifle season Thanksgiving Day- Feb 10
You can shoot 3 bucks whenever you want- for all you communist/big government/rule lovers, fine, throw in a rule that says bucks must meet one of 3 criteria

150 lbs
13" inside spread
confirmed to be 3 years old by looking at jawbone
This protects all yearlings and a lot of 2 year olds. Might high grade bucks but oh well, this is public land, there aint that many people who are super consistent out there anyway.

Doe days December 20th-31st- 1 per day

If you read my proposal your are not. You could limit the number of does shot in a county. Once that number is hit cut off does for that county and apply fines to anyone caught shooting a doe there. It’s the same thing the state is doing for Turkeys on WMAS. 4 “tags” state wide but you can only kill 2 birds on any WMA.

In my opinion doe days is the best way to handle moderating doe harvest......I dont see where it needs to be any more complicated than that

ok, sure. If you own the property, shoot does all year long if you want

I have never hunted a piece of public land that I thought had too many does

Hunters are supposed to be able to analyze deer jaws on the hoof and gauge 150lb? There are also people who pack deer out from deep in public land.

If you want antler restrictions X" inside spread and 3-4 points on one side or something along those lines.

TBH just limiting to 2 bucks, one with antler restrictions, and 2-3 does + DMP if you want more would increase the deer herd by quite a bit.

"I have never hunted a piece of public land that I thought had too many does"
I can see deer on public most hunts but I've only had 1 honey hole on public that I ALWAYS saw deer in. 5-6 does every time and decent bucks most of the time. Was a super narrow SMZ with thick pines on one side and cutover on the other. Didn't know how good I had it there. Huge PITA to get in and out of but it was worth it.

Other than the SOAs, a few pieces of public land have done them on a trial basis I believe. I know of one at least.

I don't care what the rules are, only the people who follow rules will follow them.

Let me make a point. I could go out on my lease in my truck, with a bed cover, and kill a deer. I could skin and quarter it on the lease, and put the meat in a cooler, under the bed cover. Then leave the club.

Who knows I have a deer? Can a warden just stop me and ask to search my truck? I think not. I suppose he could follow me home and see if I unload it, but you get the point.

And if I hunt my own land I live on, no one needs to know anything.

Just because you see deer every time doesn’t mean there are too many deer

Also, the 3 criteria work together. On average, you would satisfy at least one of those requirements with a 3 year old

And if you’re worried about packing out deer on public land, good. It’s supposed to be difficult

I'll start by saying that I have no idea of what the deer heard is like in parts of the state that I don't hunt. I do hunt several counties through the black belt. That said, I would be in favor of two weeks of doe season. One around Thanksgiving, the other at Christmas. If you think you have more does that need taking, use the DMP for tags. Three buck tags. If they're gonna continue to charge a baiting fee, hire some more wardens. February 10th end date is not needed everywhere. My two cents worth.

If there is reason to believe you've been hunting then he doesn't have to ask. He/she can just do it.

Leave the 3 buck limit alone.

Remove Feb hunting from Zone A entirely. If pockets inside Zone A legitimately need an extension provide it using the best boundaries available.

Evaluate the consequences of cell phones and baiting to determine its impact.
