There are probably only a handful of people in the entire State of Alabama that could hack the hours I have worked most of my adult life. I don't think many here have ever run a big business and been in that position of responsibility.
365 and 24/7. You don't "take off" work.... you live your job. I haven't taken a day off work in probably 2 decades I work every single day unless I'm fishing then I'm still working as long as I have cell reception. The only time I get truly off is when I am off shore so far my phone don't work, which is nice... BUT then I just have 2x the amount of stuff to handle when I get back into cell range. We doing real work I'm not talking about being "on-call". You have to be able to multi-task I made all my kids everything but the curse of internet through the air has been that you are available 24/7.
Farming is easy... I can do that while I'm working. That's how I have time for it.

I work in health care so I work 3 12 hour shifts a week and I absolutely love it. I can pick up overtime any time i need extra money and I can take 8 days off in a row with out using vacation time if I want. How ever those 3 12 hour shifts are not easy and you can forget getting any chores done on the days/nights that you work. Dang right about this

Working 50-70 hours a week, 6 days a week most weeks. I don’t think I could get crap done in 32. That's the DA's whole point and intention. If the work is not getting done by you in your 32 hrs, someone else has to be hired to work those remaining hours needed to actually finish what has to be done. Wallah, democrats just created another 20 million jobs (which they will claim is due to their outstanding economy) and by putting everyone on the threshold of being classified a part time employee, in which case youre not eligible for benefits, which in turn has the potential to force a huge number of people into the socialized medicine debacle, ie Obamacare. Gotta read that fine print, which 90% of Americans are no longer smart enough to read between the lines to see. Our country is in a sad sad place with old demented idiots like him and others, both republican and democrat that should be home sitting on the front porch, are still actively participating in the house and senate (I use that term lightly because what is actually happening is they are allowing their unelected minions, the ones telling them to just sign here or there or say this or that) to really call the shots and run the country straight into the dirt. We ought to have an age maximum limit of 70 yrs for everyone in Washington, with 65 being even better. Term limits for all!!!

I have hard time trying to imagine how they plan to legislate a workweek. Are they gonna change the overtime law that says anything over 32 is OT? I bet that's the plan. And companies paying overtime will inevitably result in an increase in the cost of goods and services.

While I don’t believe the 32 hour week will work however, the paper mil I just retired from went to a 12 hr shift rotation 36/48 pay weeks and changed the OT rate to 36 hours on that payroll week every one else who was working 40 remain the same. Also don’t believe it will be considered part time work either, you will make the same pay for less hours,

Farming is easy... I can do that while I'm working. That's how I have time for it. There are people called “Work Aholics” that have no time for family or anything else but the business. Whether it’s due to being in such large debt from keeping up with the Jones’s, personal shortcomings and trying to make up for those by being an over achiever in the business world. Most are due to psychological issues and poor self esteem, trying to overcompensate. Usually winds up costing families, friends and even total loss of business.

Well - the Good Thing is - none of that above describes me. I can do both. Never missed a thing for my kids and have plenty of money to do whatever I want.
Hard work does pay off.... unfortunately most people are so dam lazy and so incapable of doing both it is an impossibility for them. But - I WILL think about about all those workaholics out there while I'm working from my beach house next week and the wife and kids are loving every minute of it. They got lucky the closest thing I got to a beach house coming up was a cracked plastic pool from Wal-Mart the neighbors 1/2 a mile down a dirt road were throwing out. That's how far not being lazy can take you.

That's how far not being lazy can take you. I’m very confused about what you do. First, you say you work 24/7, and very few people can work the amount of hours you do. Then you say you are not working enough to miss stuff with your family, then you say you work from your beach house while with your family but not like on call work, real work getting stuff done. What business do you run that allows you to work 24/7, and still not miss anything with your family? And it be real work? Are you in the phone and the computer a lot during the day but just not during the part of the day you spend with family?

That’s what I got now. BUT back in the early days I worked 6 and sometimes 7 days a week. I’m off Monday mornings and Friday afternoons. After 30 years of practice, I’ve earned it. Young folks don’t have a clue.

At one time we had 4 offices in 3 different cities and we worked hard running them but dammit man. I’m not lazy at all but those hours you’re taking about would not be for me. Good for you to be able to juggle it.
