I will happily ride on a rollercoaster and have a good time for 3 minutes so long as I don't have to stand in a line for more than 3 minutes. After that, the 3 minutes of fun aint worth it.

Last time we went it was right after a big rain. Rain keeps folks home. We could have held hands and walked down every isle. Some rides only had 5-6 people on them. We won about 15 basketballs at the hoops. Every schools team you could think of. Bought some delicious raisin bread at the bakery and had an awesome time! No way I’d go when it’s packed like that.

Go to Disney World during Christmas/Thanksgiving and you'll know what Hell on Earth is.

Dollywood is fun. Just dont go when everyone is expected to. We went one year (in the fall i think) and got off the ride, walked around and got back on numerous times.

Dollywood is fun. Just dont go when everyone is expected to. We went one year (in the fall i think) and got off the ride, walked around and got back on numerous times. Yep, of all the theme parks I've been to, Dollywood is about the best one. First, the crowd is much more amenable to what I would want (Redneck like me), the pricing was not too bad. If you are going to go more than 2 days then a season pass is the cheapest way to go, or, if you go after 3PM your ticket is good for the next day too. Also, don't go during the crowded times. This is the way it used to be. I haven't been in years though, but my sister took my nephew about a month ago and didn't report any issues. The period after Thanksgiving up until about a week before Christmas is a good time to go. They have all the lights up and the Christmas shows. It was just horribly crowded Thanksgiving weekend and right before Christmas. Avoid the whole area for Thanksgiving. We did that one time and never again.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

It is Gatlinburg in general, during peak times it is a madhouse up there. It is tough when kids and wife want to do something on a “break.” Most of us want to please our families over ourselves. I have not been the nicest at times, but am continuing to grow in maturity.

Took youth kids one time kind of off season; had a blast. I wouldn’t have nothing to do with any tourist trap during spring break. Same here...We had a great time...We rode and rode that day with hardly a line...My kids and I loved that theater they had, it was in 3D and the chairs shook and moved around with the movie.... Gosh thats been a minute....It may not be there anymore idk...

Can’t speak to Dollywood or any other “touristy” things because we spend pretty much all daylight hours in the park, but about the only way it’s worth going anymore is during the week, particularly in a not-peak part of the year. Winter is great other than some parts of the park being closed. But still try to avoid weekends

Didn’t read entire thread…. Haven’t been to Dollywood, but numerous times to Six Flags & once to Cedar Point
Will say fast pass is the only way to go, & I never go on a w’end, & never on Spring Break. I’m a roller coaster fanatic & have done Six Flags numerous times in the summer, but only during the week. Eat a good breakfast & get there as soon as they open & ride coasters all day, typically only waiting in line 7-10 mins per ride (less wait time later in the day). Only thing I spend money on in the park is a bottle of water or Gatorade or two. At CedarPoint we took mid-day lunch at the car in the parking lot & had sandwiches we brought from home.
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...
