I’ve buried my parents. I intend to do the same for my family. My question and what I’m struggling with is the cost. Not that I can’t afford it cause I for sure can. But cremation is cost effective and would leave $7-$9k more for my kids. Is there specific scripture that any one knows of that says bury me instead of dispose of me? Cause between my wife and me we could pass another $15-$20k to our kids if we didn’t do the traditional burial. Thanks In advance to the people who know the right answer.

Sorry can't help ya with your question, however my Uncle was cremated in January, and a long time frien of ours was cremated in December, and none us feel like we have any closure, but that's US, we're used to traditional burials.

More and more people are getting away from traditional burials because of the cost. They prey on the emotions of the families. Example… when my father passed the funeral home kept trying to get her to upgrade on the vault. Saying this one’s good but for an extra X amount you can upgrade to this one which has better seals.
May not help but Google says “What does the Bible say about cremation? According to most Biblical study websites, there is no explicit scriptural command for or against cremation. There are no passages that forbid cremation, according to most Biblical scholars.” Definitely is ridiculous. Had another Uncle pass back in May, and my Grandpa couldn't believe what they were wanting just to open the casket for half hour, use of the chapel, closing of the vault etc. So we just went in said our goodbyes (didn't open for the public) and didn't do the chapel, which usually turns in a Bible Sermon anyhow. I've talked with my family and we're gonna skip the chapel too and the opening the casket to the public. I'll say this, i'm all for business making money, because you have to make money to stay in business, but some of that chit ain't right! The Wife had to make a few phone calls when her nieces daughter passed last year, cause they were really trying to take advantage smdh.

The only stipulation is to put your faith in Jesus Christ for the salvation of your soul. If God can create man from the dust of the earth, turn water into wine, raise the dead, etc, etc. he can surely turn your ashes into a renewed heavenly body. My thoughts as well. The Almighty can do anything.

Depending on their ages, maybe you should ask their opinion. I am kinda like James in that while I know folks who have been cremated, if it were my close family I would struggle with it over a traditional burial. Plus I am a genealogy nerd and I have learned lots of info from cemeteries that I feel like would be harder to find if those folks had not been buried in a traditional manner.

My wife and I have both said to cremate us and bury our urns in her family plot in Orrville. We have both said this with the stipulation that the family can do whatever they feel comfortable, but for us, we are like Daryl and would like to save our kids that expense.
Truly, as far as I'm concerned y'all can roll my carcass in the swamp and feed the gators.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

When our son passed away we elected to go with cremation. We kept our son's ashes for years in the living room on a table with come crosses and such. It may sound weird to some folks but it was nice knowing where he was. When we sold the house in Trussville, his sister took his ashes and I think they are with his mother (My ex-wife) now.
When our Mom passed away we knew she had always wanted to have a traditional burial. She's buried in a cemetery in Sylacauga near where she was raised. Hardly any of our family ever goes there. I would be hard pressed to find her gravesite now.
When our Dad passed away he didn't care what we did, so we had him cremated. His ashes are here with us at the cabin on a bookshelf. I may see if I can have them interred with Mom in the cemetery in Sylacauga or in the cemetery in Cahaba Heights where he was born and raised and where his parents are buried.
Point being... I firmly believe all the burial practices are a construct of mankind and not of God's. God is concerned with you spirit not the meat sack that it's temporarily housed in.
I also firmly believe that if I had been doing the wrong thing by cremating my son and father, the Holy Spirit would have slapped me upside the head and told me so. He's never been shy about convicting me of things I'm doing wrong.
When I die, I think it would be cool as all get out to go out like the Vikings. Push my ass out in a lake on a wooden boat with a bunch of wood piled on it and set the damned thing on fire. Have all my friends sit on the shore having cocktails and watching the thing burn. That would be cool. People would be talking about my funeral for years.

I just wrote a check to bury mom for 10, 500. I am being cremated. No casket, no embalming for me. I asked if I had to have clothes on no since wasting clothes. They said yes state law. Clothes for a man per the law could be just a pair of boxers to hit legal minimum, not sure just an idea Not a lawyer nor an undertaker but I don’t blame you for not wanting to destroy clothes even in death

That is not a state law at all. They just dont want to fool with nekkid bodies. John and Jane Doe homeless bodies are lucky if they get bagged in a canvas sack before being cremated.

Truly, as far as I'm concerned y'all can roll my carcass in the swamp and feed the gators.
In a similar vein, a co-worker & I discussed this a while ago. There's a place in TN (a body farm) that takes dead bodies whole & just lays them out in a field. Has to do with the study of decomposition. It's called the Anthropology Research Facility
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

Police forensics studied the decomposition rates to help in murder cases. I've heard certain denominations say to be cremated is against the biblical teachings. I've never seen anything in the Bible to support that. Think of all the ways folks die and thie bodies disposed of. War, drowning/lost at sea, etc.
