You also have to verify that it’s even a legitimate letter from the IRS. It could be a scammer, so you have to check that first. Yep. My mother’s mail comes to us. Just got a letter for her from the “Department of Justice C/O XYZ Credit Blah Blah” offering her a free credit monitoring service since the Medicare system has allegedly been hacked. Of course, all you have to do is sign up and provide all your personal information. It never ends does it.
