Working. Sadly all I hear are people snoring and dialysis machines beeping. Haven't been since Sunday and I'm itching to go. After today I'm off til Wed, but a lot of rain in the forecast sadly.

Hot and muggy. Plenty of sign but no gobbles.

Only bird I heard was 2 properties over and shock gobbled at 6:18 to a shotgun blast across the road from me. I could just barely hear him. A few minutes later he gobbled about 10x. It was all over by 630. I left at 7 to swing by the house before going to work. These birds are so weird. I heard 5 or 6 different ones yesterday and the most gobbling I’ve heard all year but today, very quiet.

Rainy days are field days. Clearcuts, pastures, green fields and roads. Slip around and see them first.

I had the same bird gobbling about a half mile across my line across a clear cut. I've got to see about getting permission to hunt that property because he has been in the same spot gobbling every single morning I've gone. He's taunting me for sure.

Another awesome morning in Tennessee, I’ve been trying to help a buddy get his first bird. We lost the first one to hens, made a move called up 2 long beards to 25 yards and my buddy never pulled the trigger so I didn’t, they walked off 🤬!
Moved about 200 yards to the end of the ridge and called one up in his lap, dead at 9:10
I’m headed back to Alabama but we’ll hit these hill birds again next week

So my days of hunting sunrise are probably over this year. In trying to strike up midday gobblers, I am thinking about trying small blocks of public around bankhead. Anyone ever have any luck doing this? I've been looking on OnX and there are lots of little areas around bankhead that are public right off a road surrounded by private woods. I'm generally lost when I don't know where they are gobbling in the morning and am thinking of new strategies to try out.

I chased a bird gobbling it's head off for 4 straight hours. Finally gave up on that bird and got on another one at the four wheeler. I was shooting the breeze with another guy from the club and one fired off below us. He called the bird up and he came my direction. I rolled him at about 35 yards. #3 on the ground for me.

You have a 12 o’clock cutoff on public now.
