Just heard on the radio that this year there are combined hatches of cicadas that coincide. I don't remember the exact years but something like 17 year and 30 something year hatches are both happening this year so the numbers are huge and the sound is loud.

Growing up in the 60's/70's we called them June Bugs. They would shed there outer shell and it would be stuck on pine tree bark mostly....looked like a pork skin! You called cicadas June Bugs? These are June bugs
