Why does this County have a WAAAY higher number of turkeys killed than any other County....EVERY Spring? Wouldn't think that the habitat is any better than SOME of the other Counties. Are there way more Turkey hunters there than any other County? Just Curious....

Plenty of good cover that only produces a moderate predator load……combined with fertile valley bottoms

From what I see, it’s more dang turkey hunters. Everyone’s mommas sisters boyfriend owns a decoy and an auto loader 12 gauge.

Big county with a lot of public land. A lot of out of state hunters also. TN opening 2 weeks later puts a ton of pressure being on the state line.

It’s a huge county. It has more land area than most other counties, and a lot of it is suitable Turkey habitat.

Lots of birds equals Lots of hunters. Looks like a revival let out several days a week and every weekend. But ask around….. ain’t no birds, aint heard one. All these tracks belong to hens?

If you iron all the hills out it's probably the biggest in surface area square miles.

What 2dogs said . Great habitat , lots of woods between fields . Lots of water sources, creeks , Tennessee River , ponds etc . I live on Sand Mtn . I’ve seen more birds than I can ever remember in places we never saw turkeys 3-5 years ago .
