Got a powerline field where the clover is fantastic this year. The issue is that the west side of the field will be getting full sun this summer until dang near sunset so it will get a ton of afternoon heat/sun and I’m sure the clover is going to be hit hard this summer. Any thoughts on what might work well broadcast into the clover for summer forage that can be planted now. I do not want to disk the plot. Clover is currently 8-12” deep. Any throw and mow you think might work?

That’s the plan, the issue is the new cutover on the west side. I’m wondering if there is anything I can broadcast into it now that would give forage in July Aug when the heat knocks the clover back. I guess chicory would be the ideal plant but I doesn’t it need to be fall planted?

Thanks all, I was afraid that would be the case. Just gonna let it ride and hope for timely rains this summer.

Buckwheat is cheap, easy to grow, and deer will eat it. It grows fast, so you don't have to plant it until july. That was going to be my suggestion.
