Insurance increases all across the board, seems to come down to one common factor. LAWYERS! They sue for any ridiculous reason and win. The government needs a serious look into these abuses of the lawyers and insurance companies. They are just like politicians and scratch each other's back, while padding their wallets with insurance increases.
And guess what qualifies you to be a judge! And why do we have a judicial system? To keep the other branches of government in check? Seems like a dog chasing its tail here

Not what I'm saying at all, saying lawyers judges, insurance, government, they're all in together, so having any check the other is a waste of time and money

Your govt is not going to look into a dang thing happening in the insurance and legal businesses, because those same insurance companies and trial lawyer groups are both leading donors to the Washington political class. Just give it up. Aint happening. Why do you think that tort law has never seen any meaningful reforms. They, along with the federally appointed and elected judges, are all pushing the same rope, keeping the system clogged up and making money hand over fist, and gaining power, by doing it.

Government has become the mafia. All monies lead back to padding the pockets of upper politicians. Yall not notice the mob has all but disappeared. Everything is organized to make folks pay in to keep their stuff. The only ones not playing the game are those at the bottom with nothing and those at the top with fu money.

What impact did making it legally mandated to have vehicle liability and health insurance have on rates?

So; my agent/broker shopped my coverage and got best price on Auto with Progressive; they came n at about 50% of Safeco. The best quote for homeowners was Orion; came in at 25% less with with $1500 All perils deductible/$2500 Wind/Hail. I am now at $1000. Not familiar with Orion?? Have to research. Yeah they beat allstate by half on me .

I have heard (meaning this may not be correct!!), that some insurance companies like Progressive/Allstate etc. will lowball a new quote in the hopes you switch then have significant increases in your premium the next couple of years to get the premium back up or more than you were paying with another company and if you keep switching every few years they see this and won't offer you a policy. Maybe those in the know will confirm or deny this.

Don't get me started on insurance companies.
My son was born premature and had to spend a little time in the NICU before coming home from the hospital. Being premature the Doctor wanted him to go home on an apnea monitor. At that time the hospital I worked at had health insurance with United Healthcare. The United rep tells us that they would only pay to rent an apnea monitor if we used one of their in-service providers. So I say, "sure, who is your in service provider for such equipment?" They didn't have one. Well surely since you don't have one you will facilitate getting one from an out of service provider, right? NOPE! Pretty good deal for them. Require that you use an in service provider and then not have one. Bet the guy who came up with that tactic got a nice raise and a big corner office. End result I had to pay out of pocket for the monitor. They also fought us tooth and nail for every penny on the whole hospital stay. Then the low life s.o.b.s called my house to check on my son about two weeks after we brought him home. I guess one of their lawyers got paranoid that my son had come home without an apnea monitor and died in his sleep opening them up to a potential lawsuit. They never called again and I bet that woman that did call that one time still mentions me in her psychiatric therapy sessions.
Insurance companies are pond scum.
