One of our Cocker Spaniels has found an emergence point at the bottom of a tree and goes "hunting" at night. The last 2 nights I've caught him coming in the house with a buzzing mouth...pry his mouth open and the buzzing gets LOUD. Caught it and crushed it before it got loose and hid in the house....you think crickets are annoying inside....
experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

I have farm land on three sides of my house , little patch of woods on the one side. I reckon they're all in there having an orgy . I can hear them from inside the house, with all doors and windows closed , when on the woods end of the house!

I was working in Talladega today and could hear them everywhere. However - still none in our area and we are in a very wooded area.

There’s only certain counties these cicadas live in AL. It’s far northeast, some east central and southeast. They pick back up in parts of MS, but are absent from a lot of AL. They’re different than the annual green cicada we see every year. I don’t think we will see any in most of west and NW AL. You cannot hear when you walk outside over by the airport in Tuscaloosa. I call it Northport but technically its Tuscaloosa. They are extremely loud!

Can't hear them at home. At work it sounds like some kind of pressure valve being let off, you can hear them over everything

I still haven’t heard or seen a single one in all my traveling the last couple of weeks. Lol.

I found one this morning by one of our neighborhood lakes. Red eyes, smaller body unlike the bigger black ones we always have each summer.
And then this evening on a different piece of property I heard them for the first time this spring. Holy chit. It sounded like a coven of humming animals in the woods. Very cool.
