They are here in Leighton by the thousands! I have been using the leaf blower to get them out of the garage. When one is run over by a tire, they leave a big gooey spot on the carport. The ringing sound has grown to quite an impressive level here. I had earplugs in running a weed eater yesterday, and they could still be heard.

I can't stand a thief.

They are loud as heck and swarming on the river land beside I-65 between Montgomery and Prattville. First time I heard them I thought something was wrong with my truck.

Anyone who is curious and wants to hear the deafening sound, pm me your number. I recorded it last week when hunting. It’s hard to describe until you hear it. I’ve never heard anything in nature like it.

You cannot hear when you walk outside over by the airport in Tuscaloosa. I call it Northport but technically its Tuscaloosa. They are extremely loud!

Yeah. They’re hatching in a few places they weren’t documented in the last hatch. I still haven’t heard or seen a single one in all my traveling the last couple of weeks. Lol.

Come to Columbus, they are absolutely crazy

The other day it was weird driving down the highway with windows down. You could hear the big patches of them making the sound as you approached them, even when going at highway speed.

Sounds like something out of a sci-fi film off in the distance. It’s almost eery. I heard it for the first time today, and you could hear them driving down the highway.

I've been hearing them all week outside of prattville, finally saw a few dead ones yesterday in my drive way. I saw a bluebird attack one and eat it up......the sound does sound like something from a sci fi movie....

The 13-year cicadas, called Brood XIX, will emerge in Georgia and the Southeast. The 17-year cicadas, called Brood XIII, will appear in Illinois. This will be the first time since 1803 that two broods emerged at the same time. The next time this happens will be 2037.

The overlap of these two broods has been dubbed by an expert as "cicada-geddon" — but it won't be the biggest cicada event. In 2076, the two largest broods –XIX and XIV – will come out together. "That is the cicada-palooza," University of Connecticut cicada expert John Cooley said....

What was kinda spooky was Monday morning I was waking across a 1/4 mile cutover. I could hear them I the woods up ahead getting louder and louder as I got closer. Not as single one in the cutover. All in the woods.

Finally started seeing/hearing them here over the last few days......these sound different than the ones we get every summer. The normal ones sound like a loud steady buzzing, but these sound different in a way that's hard to explain.....the best description I've heard is "they sound like the sound an electric car makes when it drives past you". It's almost like a buzzing sound mixed with a whistling sound mixed with a swishing sound
