Got a Browning XBolt recently and wanted to know if anyone else had one and what ammo they use. I haven't had luck with accuracy so far. I of course cleaned it before I shot it. I followed the recommended break in. I am letting barrel cool and all the good stuff.
I am getting 3" groups at best. I have tried Winchester XP 140g, Norma whitetail 140g, then Barnes TSX 120g. I contacted Browning and they said keep trying different ammo. What a crock of shucks! I have a $1300 baseball bat.
I know identical rifles can like different ammo but just wondering if anyone has any ideas. Should I stick with a 120g, 140g' or try a 150g.

Make sure the scope is mounted correctly and the stock screws are torqued correctly.

Remount scope in Talley lightweight rings, torque to spec.
Go buy federal power shock 150gr in the blue box.

Scope is mounted and torqued to spec of 18 inch/lbs. I have Talley rings (no rail) Scope is a Leupold VX5HD 4-15x44 Action screws were torqued to spec @ 35 inch/lbs. Not my first rodeo guys, I've checked everything.

Try another scope. Seriously. I know of someone that had a Christensen that was patterning with a VX-3 HD. Rifle was sent back and Christensen sent a target back. Under MOA. Swapped scopes, boom. Sub MOA. Iâve never had an Xbolt that wasnât MOA or better with the right ammo.

Some rifles just suck!! My buddy bought a Ruger American 7-08. Only thing he got it to shoot good with was 150gr Norma whitetail. His brother bought his wife the same rifle and it loved the 120gr Barnes TTSX. HIs daughters 7-08 single shot lives the Hornady 129gr interlocks. These newer rifles are so different from the old rifles where it didnât hardly matter what you shot in them. Hope you find that perfect round for it!!

I have about 5 Leupold scopes and never had a problem. This 5HD is the most expensive one I have and just can"t give up on it yet. I am going to re-torque scope rings and mounts. Torque action screws again. Use a good copper barrel cleaner and try again tomorrow. I picked up some cheap Federal blue box today 150g and see what happens. My Henry 30-30 loves that blue box stuff.

Totally understand. I had a VX-5 and loved the glass. As a last resort before you move it down the road, stick another one on it to confirm.

I will have to buy 1" rings because all my other scopes are 1" tube. This 5HD is the illuminated 30mm
