Auburn had a chance to make a statement and leave 3 runners stranded tied up 3-3 in the 5th. 2 outs. Fsu batter is 3-2 and pitcher has been tossing dimes. The coach for auburn makes a comment to the catcher. Next pitch goes in the dirt. Starts a 7 run blitz. I fully believe that the coach cost them the game and an opportunity to advance

I was watching that. Coach was mad at the ump for IIRC the bottom half of the strike zone being missing. I'm a Bammer but even I agreed with him. He spoke to the catcher as an indirect way to let the ump know he wasn't happy about the job he was doing. It seemed to kinda get into the pitchers head a little that the ump wasn't calling her strikes. She looked frustrated and bewildered. She then started to get blasted because she was afraid of going low in the zone. Blue caused the problem and coach was trying to stand up for his pitcher is how I saw it. Either way the pitcher got rattled and it fell apart.

Thanks for the clarification I tuned in as that at bat was going on. Makes sense knowing that now. That pitcher was stone cold before that though. Hated it for her. I’m an auburn fan but love just watching good competition and the gameplay of softball. Way more entertaining to me than baseball.

The ump made two terrible no calls that would have got AU out of the inning still tied. The ump should be held accountable.

Time for a new coach anyway

This was Mickey Deans last season, thank the lord. He did a good job holding it together after the last staff messed up bigley, but he should have been gone a couple of years ago.
