For the life of me I have a hard time fishing my way points. I mark stuff but can never manage to find/feel it once I fish it. Any tips?

What brand and model electronics are you using?

You got to hang a beer can on each side of the bank, and line up with that big rock or tree the other way…
I usually get close from the console and if they are deeper I will run the front unit to find them and back off.. that is if and only if I can’t find them casting. But they make a unit to take the guess work out of all that now…

I have all the fancy gadgets. I use them but. Nothing beats line of sight of a tree or a buoy a boathouse.

Have you calibrated your compass in the unit? I'm not sure all of them require that, but I know one of mine did. Is your tracking on, so that it leaves the dotted line everywhere you have been? I usually let mine just accumulate over several trips and don't start it over until the tracks start taking up too much of the screen. I keep the map set on a range of 80' most of the time, and between the waypoint mark on the map and all the tracks, I don't usually have any trouble finding a spot. But once I get close I let down the TM and then I can see whatever I marked by finding it on the LS. It's harder to find something like a brush pile without a LS, but the waypoints and tracks should get you close enough to eventually see it on the screen. Good luck with it!

I've never used garmin before all I've ever used was humminbird lakemaster. I know with humminbird if your using side imaging for example and you see a rock pile 100 ft to the right of the boat you can use the up/down/right/left arrows and as soon as you push one of them it will pause the image on the screen and a little cross hair will appear. Once it does this you take that cross hair and put it right on whatever you wanna mark and hit waypoint and it will mark that exact spot where the cross hair is at and you can just idle back to it and but I always just put the nose of the boat right on the edge of the waypoint that way I know it's straight off the front of the boat and once I get on the trolling motor I get right over the top of it with my unit at the front of the boat and then mark it again so it is saved on both units. If you have your units at the console and trolling motor linked together you dont have to do this and its alot easier but I dont and this is what works for me.

Yup with the Humminbird just scroll the cross hairs to where you want it marked and hit mark. Then you can set up a casting circle alarm at certain distances to alarm when you approach that circle. I usually leave mine set at 100ft, leaves me enough space to walk up to the deck and turn the LS on and then get dialed on in the exact spot I marked.

As PCP you might need to calibrate that Garmin unit before you can get an exact lock on a specific spot. Seem like I read that when setting up my Garmin with LS. I did and have never had an issue.

The main thing is don't have your unit set too far out. By that I mean I have my screen zoomed in to 20 ft. If it's set at 40 or more it's gonna be harder to hit your waypoints. I normally just get to an area I'm gonna fish and drop the trolling motor to find My spots. Live scope helps big time on structure I put down for crappie.

If I can find 5 chicken coops tied together in 120' of water while holding the boat in 3 foot seas and passing out cigar minnows, you ought to be able to find your mark in a lake. You sure it's not a malfunction of equipment?

I'm not being a smart butt. I'm not a freshwater guy so I really don't know what yall are up against.
