Been shopping on marketplace today. Found an item I wanted, struck a deal with the lady that owned it with regards to price and when to meet up. Then she comes back and tells me if someone comes along before our arranged meet up time that she’s going to sell it to them. Well, that was a big F-OFF as far as I’m concerned and told her to forget it. A little while later I find pretty much the same item owned by a guy who’s a little closer. We go back and forth on condition, price etc…and strike a deal. Comes time to arrange a time to meet up and he ghosts me. I even told him to make it easy on himself. I can see that he’s seen the message. Been a few hours and just won’t respond. What’s wrong with people?

People don't care about their word anymore. They think nothing about lying or not showing up

I bet out of 100 people ive tried to communicate with on there, maybe 15-20 even replied. Its a pathetic place to do business. Every now and then you might actually be able to make a purchase. Its pretty hard to get accomplished.

I long ago gave up trying to see on there. If I have something I want gone, I take it to the top of the driveway and leave it. Gone in an hour.

May be because im a younger person..but i have no trouble with it..i get ghosted by more folks when i got to meet selling them something than buying. It happens but its usually local and when i sell something..i make sure they know that i meet in one place and one place only. Buyin stuff..well it only takes a few back an forths to figure if they are worth foolin with

I've never had any dealings on marketplace so I dont really know but, Is there a place you can give a review of those type folks actions or leave comments about them and their sorry dealings and poor communications? Seems like that may help everybody if you was to put folks like that on blast....

FB marketplace is just as bad as Craigslist

There are even people like that on this site. I don’t understand why some people are like that. That’s a good way ensure me not doing business with you.

If that’s the case we need to know who those people are. I don’t buy a lot on here but when I do I keep my word on when/where/price.

Where can You shop for Vehicles Ect Nowadays beside Marketplace? Craigslist Is Pretty much a Ghost Town.

I have been lucky so far in that I have yet to meet up with anyone who failed to show up. I have had a couple ask if I would take less than the agreed upon amount though.

Like y'all, though, if you don't want to follow through, then just say no to begin with instead of the ghosting folks.

Try driving 3hrs, texting seller back and forth the entire time and then getting ghosted. Oh the things I said, I probably shouldn't have...LOL

I’ve bought about a dozen items off of spacebook marketplace. All have been fine but my luck ran out last week. A guy in my same town posted a nice Lesco spreader for a really good price. I messaged him if there was anything wrong with it and if it worked like it was supposed to. He said that there was nothing wrong with it but he just didn’t use it anymore. I immediately replied and said I’ll take it and can I come get it now? He said great but he wasn’t at his house and that I could come get it after 5:00. At 5;00 I messaged him and said let me know when your home and I’ll come get it. About an hour later he messaged me that he sold it. I was pretty soar about it for awhile. It took a lot of self restraint to not message back something ugly. I just chalk it up to some people weren’t raised right.

Market place used to be a decent place to buy stuff. Now its all scammers and liars. I don’t even look at it anymore.

I have a rule, I won't go look at anything for sale further than 20 miles away because people are full of shucks.
