I disagree with that a full 180 degrees. I'm not letting most strangers come to my house because of the occasional bad apple that will be coming back later to see what they can tote off. I have a good security system in place and someone watching the place when I'm gone, but that doesn't stop crack or meth heads from trying. I prefer that they don't have a clue that there is anything worth stealing here. It's much easier to take steps to avoid the theft than to try to recover stolen goods.

I've never had anyone not show at a designated meeting spot to buy or sell. I did have a shady mo-fo meet at my house and that'll never happen again. Costco is my go to meet spot

There's a mind game to buying or selling. Some people call it art.

Rule number one, never haggle on price until you arrive in person face to face. Dont even mention it because it kills the sellers energy dealing with you and they will gladly let someone else see it before you do.

#2 If you want the item, you better drop everything and run to get it because most people ain't gonna hold it until you're actually driving to meet them. Even then, don't be surprised if it's gone. That's why it's imperative that you don't piss the seller off with haggling over the phone.

#3 When selling something, never leave your house because when you do, the buyer knows they have you over the barrel at that point.

Just say, can I come look at it right now, or whenever you're ready to show it. That usually puts you ahead of the others.
And always have cash and a gun hidden. And let someone know where your going and send the profile to them if it's thousands of dollars.

People are printing fake car titles these days so you have to be careful.

I sure as heck am not doing a couple of those. I never meet up at my house unless I have mutual friends with the person or some oyher connection. And I alway do the price before the meeting is set. I guess I am not nice. But, if we agree on a price and the oerson tries to change it the deal is off. I'd rather take it to the junkyard than deal with somebody that goes back on the original deal.

I haven’t sold a many different items as Coldy but he’s right. You must view their profile.

Got to check anybody you're considering buying from. Marketplace is much more reliable than craigslist from my experience. If they are selling something local but their profile reviews suck or they live in different states then pass them by

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

I would rather throw stuff away than have to deal with someone I don't know.

I sell on MP every now and then. I make it clear up front that I will sell to the first one to show up with cash. I also refuse to haggle except in person. The first few times I held something for someone that never showed up, causing me to turn away other potential buyers, changed the way I do business on MP. I don't haggle over the phone because every time I have, the people always try to talk you down even more when they get there. If someone is driving a ways, I tell them if they will call me when they leave and i still have it, I will hold it until they look at it, but that's about as far as I'll go.

I think "buyers" make a sport out of talking people down and saying they want it when a lot of them don't have a pot to piss in.
