I pray reverently and at the same time I pray like I'm talking to an old friend. Small things, big things, in hard times, and in good times. I believe He wants to hear from us period... praise Him and be thankful He listens.

I pray about tons of things and never make deals - we are lucky just to be here
He put us here to serve him. This life is gone in a vapor - biblical fact!!! Ask an old person - ask me - it is like a vapor like bible says “here today and gone tomorrow”. So hey - i gone live for self and be selfish-selfish - selfish and forget God. Wait - life almost gone - what was i living for? Eternal everlasting always gonna be here kingdom or my stupid self? Wait - that was a bad move - i was living for peanuts living for self!! Bingo
Pray without ceasing - i try to pray every day on way to work. Pray at night and pray during day amd if traffic or no traffic is important to you - pray for it. He strongly desires a relationship with us (thru prayer and reading his word and walk) - talk to him
Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self We need prayer for our country now more than ever

He just wants to talk to you, no matter what about. He’s a perfect father that loves His children. Having boys of my own helped me understand my relationship with him so much better.

I try to start my prayers with what I’m thankful for to begin with including Jesus. I usually end with asking for health and safety for my family each by name and then others I know that are having a hard time with something. God answers prayers and usually not the way we would have done it. Sometimes the answer is no also.

I talk to the Lord just about all day every day. Sometimes praying , sometimes praying fervently, sometimes meditating with him, sometimes jyst talking to him like a friend. If youll talk to the Lord and listen, youd be amazed how much e talks back. Not always in an audible voice, but i have heard that a few times. Sometimes in feeligs, could be considered something similar to concience i guess, directions you just know came from God. What brushwhacker said has alot to do with it too. I pray about all kinds of decisions, mine and others, purchases, crops. My son has prayed up a deer or two. Joseph wanted so bad to catch is first shark last year. We asked the Lord for it at bible study the sunday before we went to the beach. He caught 17 sharks on that trip. I think sometimes God shows out like that just because he can. I dont think theres any part of my life that God is just not interested in and i believe he wants to be involved in all of it, after all he does live inside me. Man, i could talk about this all day but ive got to go pick some peaches

I pray reverently and at the same time I pray like I'm talking to an old friend. Small things, big things, in hard times, and in good times. I believe He wants to hear from us period... praise Him and be thankful He listens. There are a lot of good info here. Don’t make deals with God, don’t ask Him to show you a sign (God if you do this I will know), there are a lot of do nots in the Bible, but there are a lot more dos. Pray ferverently, without ceasing, in a quiet area, etc. He listens to a righteous man. How does one become righteous? Falling on your knees and face and admitting your sins, apologizing and turning from those ways. Cleansing your heart and mind. It isn’t about certain prayers, it’s a relationship with Him. Lifting His name above everything, Jesus. There is nothing wrong with asking for safe travels, money to keep your mortgage, the lights on or food on the table. David prayed for deliverance from enemies, forgiveness for playing with another man’s wife and having a good friend killed. Solomon prayed for wisdom. Both put God where He needed to be, above it all. The biggest thing is to be in His Will and His timing. I’m with you, get stuck behind left laners, sorry waitress, idiots, democrats, Joe Biden, I have to stop, apologize, and lift His name over it all. I want to be in your will and on your time. Thank you for what you have done and are doing!

I copied this from google real quick. It answers a lot of your question.
The Bible has many verses about prayer, which is considered a central part of the Christian life. Some Bible verses about prayer include: Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" James 5:13-16 "Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord" Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" Mark 11:24 "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" John 16:24 "Ask, using My Name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy" 1 John 5:14-15 "And we are confident that He hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases Him" Job 22:27 "You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you, and you will pay your vows" Proverbs 15:29 "The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous"

Jesus tells us us exactly what prayer should look like. End of story.
