DOJ responded in writing to the republican led house today, that they will not be bringing charges, arresting or prosecuting their beloved leader, Merrick Garland, for his Contempt of Congress charge referrals.

Republicans should just steamroll the Dems with legislation stripping all funding from the DOJ. DOJ just gave them the one finger salute, and they are going to just sit there and whine about it, and take it, while doing nothing about it. The house controls the purse strings and funding and the feckless republicans are afraid to use it to reign in the out of control democrats. Never ceases to amaze me how the democrats manage to get things pushed forward and done all the time, whether they are in the majority or minority, yet the republicans cant ever do a dang thing. SMH

It's almost like the majority of Republicans are actually democrats that infiltrated the party and took over, huh? That can't be it though because Republican voters would never reelect those types to a 2nd term.

It gets in the way of their election interference plans. However, now that they have taken the stand and position that it is acceptable for their side to interfere with elections, everybody on their side can do it. That is the reason. Its still illegal for the people who truly hate them like me, to interfere with their election.

Straight out of the letter:

"Consistent with this longstanding position and uniform practice, the Department has determined that the responses by Attorney General Garland to the subpoenas issued by the Committees did not constitute a crime, and accordingly the Department will not bring the congressional contempt citation before a grand jury or take any other action to prosecute the Attorney General," Assistant Attorney General Carlos Felipe Uriarte told Johnson in a letter.

"Notwithstanding the Department's efforts to accommodate the Committees' requests and the Committees' lack of a sufficient need for the audio files that would further a legitimate congressional purpose, and despite the President's directive, on May 16, 2024, the Committees adopted resolutions recommending that the House of Representatives (House) cite the Attorney General for contempt," he wrote.

Basically sounds like a FU House. You dont make any rules, we do. President says he doesnt want you to have it, so we are not recognizing you or your authority because we make the rules not you. If any republicans in the house had balls, they'd make sure that nobody at the department of justice got a paycheck this week. I'd cancel funding for every program and every budget request they made until they got in line.

How can the DOJ police the DOJ? Seems like a huge conflict to me. The people that supposed to hold them accountable won’t because they fear it would hinder their reelection? I still believe we are the greatest country but the obvious corruption needs to be stopped.

I can't wait until that bleach blonde butch body gets to ask him some questions next time.

Excellent point Pwyse and you are 100% correct. It was the exact same situation. Bannon was found in contempt of congress, for failing to provide requested information to the Jan 6 congressional committee. DOJ immediately jumped right on board with getting Bannon's case before a grand jury, in a favorable venue, and rushing it to trial before one of their favorable "pet" judges.

Isn't there a law about prosecutors unevenly applying the law? There is, but I am not sure why this is not being pursued.

so if i get subpoenaed and i dont comply can i use this as an example and NOT HAVE any repercussions ????
