Grandview sucks like hell, I wouldn't go there again for any reason.

The current healthcare model is to either go big or go home. This has to do with reimbursement rates and the large number of uninsured patients. Huntsville Hospital has staked out North Alabama as their home turf to keep UAB out of the market.

My first question when I heard this was to wonder if it had anything to do with the recent ransomware issue at ASV. I had knee replacement there on 5/24. When we got there that morning, parking was free, they couldn’t take co-pays, all registration and orders were being hand-written, all computers were useless. I asked about this at my 2-week checkup and was told it still hadn’t been fully resolved. They were losing a lot of money at the time because they could not accept emergency room patients. I still have not received a bill. I have no idea if this played a role or not.

Exactly. This is bad news for patients.

Why??

Gov't mandated monopolies are NEVER good for consumers. UAB is a state agency. Never forget that.

Well, golly gee whiz, I wonder if we had built a dang wall at the border if we could have kept a bunch of uninsured folks from showing up for services. I mean we have our own fair share of those born here in the first place.
