Google Junior Brown 409. No list is legitimate without him and Mark Knofler You’re wanted by the PO-lice and my wife thinks you’re dead.

Rolling Stone has a liberal narrative like everyone else! Their rankings smell of diversity. My person top pick is Angus Young but my top five would include
Jimi Hendrix Eddie Van Halen Slash Stevie Ray Vaughn

Hard to argue the top 5. All great and influential guitarists.
Clapton is way too low and is top 10 IMO.
Roy Clark should definitely be on the list.
Joni Mitchell top 10??? GMAFB. If they feel like they have to put a woman in the top 10, Bonnie Raite would be far more deserving.
Nile Rodgers couldn't carry Robert Johnsons pick.
Angus Young has been playing kick ass guitar as long as anyone.
And where in the he'll is Uncle Ted?

Some friends were at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony with their good friend that was being inducted a few years back. They were eating breakfast at the hotel where the famous folks were staying and Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck asked and joined them. After some small talk those two kept being so complimentary to James Burton and his style of playing.
They were telling me about being so awestruck but those two legends were almost awestruck with Burton. Didn’t realize Elvis’s guitarist was in that league.

The interwebs is full of these lists , not hard to find one with only 1/2 of these on the one posted .
I'll also add John Fogerty , anyone who has ever seen him live knows he can flat bend them guitar strings. I'll also throw in Bucket Head.

I am not a fan but some would argue that Keith Urban is top 10...

There is no such thing as “best”…..it’s all subjective
There are 3 certainties in an uncertain world:
1. All Politicians Are Liars 2. All Gun Laws Are an Infringement 3. Taxation Is Theft

So many great ones.
Don Felder and Joe Walsh in Hotel California come to mind.
