We’re going to have a spot available in our lease in Winston county this year.
We got 594 acres private and land lock or border another 568 acres of Bankhead. We’re about an 1.5 hour drive from Huntsville, hour from Shoals and hour from Birmingham. No camp house but there’s plenty of campgrounds near. Not a pine plantation, there’s pines here and there but it’s mostly hardwoods. Creeks on every parcel and good roads. There’s 11 green fields with shooting houses and 2 power lines. There’s about 20 stands out, most are double ladders.
You would be the 3rd member and that’s our cap. 3 bucks/6 does per membership according to the rules. Restrictions are: 4 Points on one side, Antlers extend outside their ears and 19” main beam (must meet 2 of 3). All deer should be at least 3 years old, really wanting 4 years. The only rules on does is don’t kill a mama with fawns and we spread the harvest out across the properties. Immediate family allowed but their kills count against your total. Guests allowed but not unlimited guest passes and their kills also count against your total. Turkeys are 5 per member, no jakes. No shooting on property unless you’re hunting.
Full hunting rights (deer, turkey, squirrel, coyotes, etc). Usually at least 5 working days per year.
This is our 6th year in charge of it and we’re definitely seeing more older bucks than when we took control. This is a private land lease, not timber company land.
Dues are $3200/yr.
It’s not cheap I’m fully aware but it’s worked well over the past 6 years keeping members and pressure low. I’m usually down there a couple times a month so showing the property won’t be a problem.
