start with it has got to be taken apart and cleaned which is very easy . mine came nasty as hell , felt like sandpaper dust all in the gun . turned a white rag black .

when you put the spring cap back on ,mine was tough use a screw driver to put in the hole thats in the end of the cap . that will give you a lot more control over getting the spring back in . if you dont you might spend 30 minutes looking for that cap .

about that tough tube spring , mine has to be to long . its very hard to load . i can only get three 3" shells in the tube and no, plug is not in it and the gun has a three inch chamber barrel . i try to add that forth shell its like hitting a wall.

the chock size on the barrel seems more like a modified chock than open bore going by the dime test . ill measure that later with calipers .
this gun is just what it is , a cheap gun , cost me a total $167 out the door . it feels pretty good , works pretty good . to me its worth the money as a throw away gun or if stolen or lost in the woods . if it goes bang ever time itll be ok for me .

just a normal ever day guy using it as home defense , it is a dont buy . mossberg or better is a way better choice . it cycle hard , hard to load . damn sure aint for women .

other guns may be different .

buy a tube extension man and a pistol grip. i have less than 175 in this lil maverick, and it’ll hold 9 in the tube and 1 in the pipe.

Thanks for the review. The days of a police surplus or otherwise used $150 870 as a trunk/camp house/closet gun are long gone. Good to have some insight into other possibilities.

I cut the spring and left the end cap off . It works great for me , holds four 3" shells fine now easy to load and throws shell out fine . Do it at your own risk

Just to add . It'll hold five 2 3/4 dove loads in the tube now . I would have tried buckshot but I don't have any 2 3/4 buckshot.

Ueah i had to figure some thing out i just could not stand having only 3 in the tube . I figured if I messed it up id just buy the tube extension they sell .

I still got a lot of push on the spring after cutting it . I'll keep the gun now

can't argue $99 more deadly than a pistol in the hands of your typical homeowner

after i fiddled with mine i like it . kinda ticked me off in a way that they dropped them from 109.99 to 99.99 just a couple days after i bought mine . lol

what's bad is all the other costs that comes too . the gun was 109.99 but out the door and in the truck it was $166 and change . still ok now .

I shot mine today at a red clay bank with 5 rounds Winchester 3inch #1 buckshot at 25 or 30 yards . No way in hell id wanna be on the wrong end of it . With a light added it easy to line up the sites too at dark. Far as I can tell it has a modified chock barrel.
