If anyone has friends or family up there and can identify a place for us to hunt, I'll drive and pull my enclosed trailer. I can take 2 passengers and their equipment, cause I'm sure my wife will want to go also.

We would be fine just shooting does.

Anyone wanting to hunt Michigan should just go hunt state land... Better dress warm smile

What makes you say that wolves wiped them out? The U.P has a harsh winter and never had high densities to my knowledge, I know they didn't in the early 90s

Just pointing out a fact... I liked hunting public land there more than Bama. They baited so much ya just had to find buck trails and sit

I guess every dcnr has the same attitude now. No matter how much the resource needs something done, they just can't resist the chance to make more money from it. Would it not be likely that more deer could be removed if they simply let hunters take an additional 10 deer with the current license? Why do they think they have to make money from everything?

Because it's the government and they always want money without ever simply doing the right thing.

Michigan has about a 2 week rifle season and maybe a 1-2 week muzzleloader season. That's it.

Hollering something about how they got too many deer is complete BS. This is a money maker and they know it. They need the money to pay their own pack of Dr. Deer morons to tell you all about the "Science" behind everything they are doing. Dr. Fauci style.

They aren't serious about any of it with regulations like these.. This is an example of the other end of the spectrum in hunting regulations. They are over-regulated and have lost hunters.

Alabama on the other hand has no regulations that are meaningful or that really matter unless you get extremely unlucky and get caught.

Example of the opposite ends of the spectrum.

Both riddled with some gaslighting BS that any good Democrat would envy.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

They aren't used to a long season and very liberal bag limits. Alabama Hillbillies are trained , professional deer eradicators .

Except they have a long bow season. The rut falls right before gun season during bow season. A lot of good bowhunters up there. A very short but intense rut, I've shot some good bucks on public land up here.

I noticed in WI that it was a 9 day gun season which was during or right after the rut. Bowhunting was easy but come opening day 1 million would hit the woods. So they killed a lot in a short span. Skip forward and I asked Steve a few years ago if he was still hunting and a quick nope. He said between CWD and the wolves there were no deer. He hunts public lands up around the UP. Florence, Forest and another county he liked.

I hunted some good Michigan river bottom property for several years and had opportunities at good bucks every year. Had public land on both sides. One opening day of gun season I saw 42 deer several of which were bucks and the next day saw zero. Never seen a more.dramatic example.of.how.pressure shuts down deer movement.

The best bow hunting is the week leading up to rifle day. I say rifle day, because the morning sounds like a fire-fight on the Eastside of Detroit. By lunch, I'm ready to head to Alabama.

November 1 thru 17 are the best days to be in the woods up there imo.

I asked Steve about hunting opening day of gun. He said you don’t want to be here I promise.
