Have any of you guys converted one of the older BBB over to Lithium? If so was it hard to do? I've watched several YouTube videos of people doing it and it doesn't look to hard. The biggest thing seems to be getting the right battery to have enough power to run both motors on steep hills. That's the only thing I'm kinda confused about I think. Lithium batteries are getting much safer and much more affordable.

I know BBB are weird and it seems like no two are the same. I have no clue what motors or controllers mine has. I just know the batteries are bad. Maybe more than that is bad. It's been sitting for 18 months. But I might try to do something with it this fall.

I don't know much about this. But is it not as simple as swapping batteries and buying a new charger?

Nothing but plug and play on my ezgo cart. You are going to need one with a highly rated BMS to run 2 controllers. Can you turn one off, or are both running all the time? The LiTime on Amazon is a good buy. You could buy one and then add another if it isn't strong enough and still spend much less than some of them. They all seem to come from China anyway

I converted one club car and two ezgo carts to lithium battery kits. Paid the man to do each. About 3k for each cart.

Wish it was hunting season.....year round

I had a Bolt Lithium installed by a shop that is very familiar with BBB especially mine since it has been a challenge from day one (2014), I have been very happy with it, I use the cart several nights a week and have been very impressed with the longevity. A lot of folks say the weight drop hurts the ride I haven't seen that

Thanks for the input guys, I think I'm gonna do what you said preacher. Buy one and install it and then if needed I can add another. I think the buggy has a 4wd switch but I'm not sure if that cuts off the front motor or not. I will have to research that. I think the battery I was looking at had a BMS that you control through a Bluetooth phone app. I'll have to research that too. It looks like I can do one battery at 120ah for around $1k.

Is this as easy as switching the batteries and done? Or must controllers be changed also?

I think it depends on the battery and controllers

This is interesting, how does the controller know the xx voltage is lithium? I get the charger part or is that were the controller comes in to play

Being your in Mobile, I’d stop by Breland Machinery and gather their thoughts.

I think it doesn't know whether it is lithium or not, but you have to get the right battery that can keep up with the controllers. Of the controllers draw 130 amps using 4wd up a steep hill, the battery has to be able to do that. That's why preacher said get one with a highly rated bms (battery management system). So if your battery only put out 75 amps peak and the controller was trying to draw 125 you got a problem. The cart is going to stop.
