This is something my wife posted some time the past couple days. Pwyse was asking about gardening, why people do it. Its hard work for sure but there so much more than the work. This is some pictures my wife has taken in our orchard. The enjoyment we get is much more than seeing something grow. Its more than the fruit. Its a way of life. Alot like deer hunting and food plots. Its about way more than the end result. Its a culmanation of every experience we have there. I love it.

Jwalker I don't have Facebook. I can't keep the women off me on there. (That's a joke they don't want me) but seriously I don't have it can you screen shot the post or something so I can see it? I really would like to read it. Thanks Jwalker.

Its just a bunch of pictures she took in the orchard. I dont dothe facebook either. I look at hers more than i would like to admit. She has a page set up for our orchard and my tree service too. I look at the pictures people post and marketplace, thats about it. If i went to posting my thoughts on there, im pretty sure theyd kick her off pretty quick

Up here in Indiana they get a crop about once every 3-4 years. Late frost always seems to get them. I am going to pick some Saturday. He charges 50 per bushel. First time picking in 4 years

If im not mistaken, its been 17yrs or so since we lost a crop completely. It could happen any time though. We have a great crop this year but still not a full crop. Some varieties are over producing, some had about 1/3 of a crop. Overall doing very well. Dry weather has hurt us more than anything but we have got rain the past two days and 60% chance every day for the next week. We will pick about 2000 baskets of peaches in the next month. Thats a pretty big deal for us. My wife picks the biggest part of them. I help when im off or after i get home from work and Joseph helps her some when shes got a big order. Its gona b a busy month to say the least. We have started u-picking too. We just have too many right now to keep up

8qt. But an 8qt basket can vary from 10lbs of peaches to 15lbs. A bushel would be 4 baskets.

It's very rewarding and we enjoy the fresh veggies. It's also very frustrating because everything from animals to micro organisms target your plants. Every dang year my tomato plants blow up and start pumping out tomatoes like crazy. Then about July they just up and die and that's all she wrote. I'm going to figure that out one day.

Have you tried indeterminate tomatoe seeds that you’ve started yourself? That’s the best luck I have had with that issue.

I haven't personally but my buddy did about 3 years ago and gave me about 20 plants. They all grew up real tall and bushy and died in July. Same story.

I bought some of your peaches at Gina’s the other day. Good flavor and juicy.

The peaches she has was the last bunch we picked before we started getting rain. We picked some today that were the size of those other peaches she had that you were talking about. This rain has made all the difference in the world for us. Were doing u pick tomorrow if you know anyone who might want to pick their own. Theyre a little cheaper, not a whole lot. We sell the u pick for the same prices our wholesellers pay.

If I can get my son to ride up there I will get some more. I eat peaches every day and dealing with after effects of chemo it’s one of the few things that actually taste good. So I go through a bunch of em.
