Prior to the assassination attempt on Trump, only a few Democrats (mainly the outliers within the Democratic party) were calling for Biden to step down. In the leadup to the shooting, though, some cracks in the exterior were beginning to show, like George Clooney (suggested to be a big money contributor and strong influence peddler in Hollywood) calling for Biden to step down.
After the shooting, the Democrats paused and seem to have re-evaluated the strategy. Now, the talking points clearly have changed. I've already seen multiple statements that "he's been an incredibly consequential president."
Just yesterday Biden, who had firmly dismissed the prospect of stepping aside, stated that he would only step aside if his doctors suggested a medical problem. The Democrat power brokers now have entered the discussion. Biden had a meeting with Schumer and Jefferies after Pelosi "privately" advised Biden that he can't beat Trump. Reportedly the Democratic party has decided NOT to nominate Biden early for upcoming convention, presumably while they continue to strategize & hash out whether he'll stay in the race and who might replace him. I predict that Biden will bail.
Assuming that occurs, who is likely to be his replacement once "the doctors" tell Biden that his health won't allow him to continue?
Kamala Harris? Gretchen Whitmer, Michigan? Gavin Newsom, California? Mark Kelly, Arizona? Wes Moore, Maryland? Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania? Other?
I always believed Harris would be a no-go. But from what I've read, it appears campaign finance laws would make it difficult to shift money given to Biden/Harris to any of the other candidates. Plus, the existing campaign infrastructure for Biden/Harris would more easily pivot to Harris than to any other state-specific candidate that doesn't have a national infrastructure.
Could we really see a Trump v. Harris ballot?

The Dems are in a pickle, they have obviously kicked Joe to the curb. The almost have to elevate Harris. If they dont, they are opening themselves up to massive “Racist” claims and anti-women claims. Their angle is putting a strong VP in hopes of helping boost the ticket.
If at first you dont succeed, You may not want to try parachuting

IMO Michelle Obama would be the one that could beat trump, like hosscat said, she isn't capable but people would vote for her.

The Dems have lost this go around for sure. They accept that fully now. They are going to work on getting out with what they can stuff in their pockets. Their immediate focus will be on winning seats in the house and senate and then regrouping for 4 more years of insane assault on Trump. At the same time they will be in-fighting, murdering, lawfaring each other, while team Trump will be attacking them the honest way. Their phucked for quite a while at least, but they do have many tentacles and heads that can do great harm so the fight against them must never stop.

Bike Mike and her husband will not face the skull-dragging they would get. The Dems are just going to run Kamala for what they will call a "tactical loss". Just watch. A "calculated loss" is another phrase you might hear from the MSM.

Its a sound theory but this is bigger than the dems, the global cabal is calling the shots, are they willing to lose it all ? Is Trump part of the cabal ?

They have kind of painted themselves in a corner on this. The longer they wait the more likely it will be Kamala due to donation issues, bad P.R., etc.

She's now proven herself worthless to them and become a liability due to her skin color. They can just pass over a black female. This gives them the ability to remove her tactfully through defeat, rather than just dropping her completely, which would raise feminism and racist calls. Dems are doing what they do best and making chicken salad out chicken chit and planning for the next round of the fight.

They game they are about to play is all about an attempt to preserve down ballot losses... at this point they are concerned about Congressional seats in particular the Senate. Trump couple have both houses of Congress, this time with Republican leaders who are NOT Rhinos blocking his agenda.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

If Harris is at the top of the ticket, Trump wins bigger than bigly.

If she loses , it clears the field of her for others in '28.
