I need some advice from the Aldeer experts. I need a sprayer that can fit on the back of a 4 wheeler. I plan on using it to spray around 10 acres of plots. Which ones do you like and are there any to stay away from?

Get a boomless, in whatever brand you choose.

Northern Tool has good ones. For back of ATV, boomless is the way to go.

I use the tractor supply brand. I buy the wand model and added a boom using some rigging. I have had to replace hoses and the pumps, but everything else has held up well for the past 7/8 years.

25 gal is abt all you want to put on a atv, boomless brass hamilton and get 2.5 acres per tank. could possibly stretch to 3 acres with gly but will get less than stellar results with a selective herbicides.

Thank y’all for the advice. What is the reason to go boomless? The plots range from 1-3 acres in size. I would think booms would be more efficient.

I’d think control and economy/efficiency….ablility to side spray and adjust flow volume better? Now, a boom with 2-3 boomless nozzles might be a cool setup? That’s got me thinking about building my own ‘wand’ with some boomless nozzles and a mounting clamp.

Someone sort of beat me to it.

Absolutely this
If you get a boom style sprayer you will be dealing spray nozzles clogging up eventually

I just built my own boom using a 1/2" pvc pipe cut down to about 4.5/5', some tubing, ball valve to go between the boom and the wand, several boom fittings and attachments, the cost was minimal.

You can install a boomless nozzle with no fuss and none of the issues that come with a boom in about 1/4 the time and less money. I will never run a boom again.

Boomless all the way. I’m running a black rain single boomless nozzle and getting WAY more consistent coverage and a wider swath than I was getting with the three nozzle boomless rig. Get at least a 25 gallon tank. You’ll likely want to apply at least 12-13 gallons per acre. 10 gallons or less and you’ll get inconsistent coverage.

boom setup provides more droplets per sq ft across the swath, if selective herbicides is your main goal, this is your best option but just know that more nozzles are nothing more than variables and possible issues to address before each time you spray. your swath width per pass is the end of your booms

would take you 9 minutes to spray an acre at 5mph

boomless provides a wider swath width per pass (50-70% of your total spray width). my 25gal atv tank had a larger pump and a #20 brass hamilton and had a 40’ spray width. you have to overlap your spray patterns with a boomless as the droplets form a “M” accumulation amounts across the spray width. to get a even amount across the field, you need to have the outer droplets hitting close to the tire tracks from the previous pass. swath width with that setup was just under 30’.

would take you 3:20 to spray an acre at 5mph
