Anyone that has a 6x6 defender and can comment on turning/manyeverability vs off-road, and how bad it tears up the yard if working? Watched some reviews, but????

I think I want the 6x6, but has anyone compared the noise vs others ?
Anyone with the long 4x4 had issues with breakover/belly rubbingbiffroad?

Thanks

buddy has the long bed, bottoms out on water bars that have never been a issue with our rangers . it’s a hoss, my next one will 100% be a standard bed canam after having rangers for the last 10 years.

Can't speak for the 6x6, but my Defender crew maneuvers good but it's not nimble, especially in the deer woods & trails. turning radius is not tight. Mine will belly rub over dikes in rice fields, but it has the power to overcome most all obstacles like that.

Factory tires didn't tear up the turf too badly if you didn't make a sharp turn. My mud paddles for flooded Arkansas rice fields destroy turf. I've always liked the Can Am b/c is it quieter than most SxS and it just doesn't malfunction or break down.

I had a 6x6 Ranger that tore the roads up when deer hunting something fierce. I had to get rid of it honestly. I loved it but I didn't need that for roads I maintain that you can drive a 2wd golf cart down. Otherwise I couldn't get it stuck in a Lousiana Rice Field.

Well, most places I hunt, the foresters Weyerhaeuser uses have wrecked all the roads, and they’ll probably never fix them, so….

Most of the other places I’d use it, it’s not an issue….family land and various dirt, gravel, and rough paved roads. Some of the areas I hunt flood the clay roads badly, loggers cut them below grade, it’s Alabama clay, and I could use the bed capacity for work….my thinking on why I’d like that 6x, anyway.

my buddy has a toolbox in the bed and still has a space ( 8-10” ) between it and the 100gal spray rig , which won’t fit in the bed of my ranger and the tailgate close. the bed boxes are another storage spot he has a lot of stuff stored in. hell of a machine for sure

…oh, and landowners closed one side of one lease to anything but ATV/UTV (tractors in fall) on their roads. We can’t use pickups to haul seed, etc anymore. I WISH it had a turf mode for the rear in the 6x, for some places at my house, but my old rhino doesn’t, and I live with what it tears up and have to be careful. Just wondering how bad it is on these things.

I'm betting it will churn up a yard pretty good.

I honestly came to the conclusion that I didn't need 6x6. I put some bigger tires on a regular Ranger and it's hard to get it stuck and doesn't mess anything up bad enough to do something different. Unless there is a very specific need for the additional traction such as maybe pulling a trailer through a muddy spot, etc. I would say that you don't need to go down that path. It's just un-necessary IMO.

It’s more about the bed capacity/load vs traction. I also might just get a 4x4 HD10 regular cab, and buy a good sized UTV trailer….probably cheaper and it’s there when I need it and not when I don’t. wink
