Somebody needs to legalize booby traps. Me and mine are smart enough to not trip them, and we are far enough out that no innocent would get hurt.

That is all. Uncle Huck out!

If the barrel and tumblers are hardened , you won't drill them unless you have a carbide drill. If someone wants in and they come prepared with proper tools they can get in a bank vault.

Remember the old master lock commercials where they would shoot a lock with a bullet and it held?

Mark Whitlock of Mark's Outdoors made his own video shooting a Master Lock. He looked at the camera and said "Sorry Master Lock, this is a Weatherby " Boom, and no more lock. gun grin

Four number combination locks don't take much to get open without tools.
If its on a hunting camp or farm gate, the combination is usually 3006 or 3030
Folks are smart. If those numbers dont work, then guess the year the owner was born. Look at how old the lock is and figure what kind of person would buy that cheap lock, then plug their year in. The first two numbers are always 19 then it just a matter of figuring. The owner is likely a 5 or more for the 3rd number, and then its just elimination.
If that dont work, then you just pick it.

Another gate trick is for complex over-built locks on one side, and easy lift-off hinges on the other end. Sometimes its easier to just lift gate off the hinges. I've seen a lot of over built locks only to see the hinge side easier to open than tupperware.

Leave them unlocked. A locked area means there something there worth protecting. The cabin door is unlocked. Help your self few canned foods magazines blowup bed or 3 a few blankets. Packs of camera batteries folding chair or 2. Generator guns ammo good junk goes home every day. Fixing a door frame sucks.

Just wondering, what do you do if you have a lock that can't be cut or drilled, when someone breaks a toothpick off in it or fills it with super glue.

There's always a weak link. If it's not the lock, chain, pipe it's locked to or the gate itself, it's the fence or whatever else a theif will think of. A locked gate just keeps an honest man honest.

I been on hundreds of hunting clubs over the years logging . Most all gated . I have only seen one gate over the years that would hold up to trespassers. It was on the elephant sanctuary in honewald tn . They had a gate an a fence that a dozer would have hard time getting into . Annit had live video cameras. Other than that any gate can be accessed no matter the lock, chain, gate ,fence or gate post . If someone want in they find a way . Best thing we have found is cell cameras at gate a lots of signs stating that . A lot of time multiple cameras . I use moultrie cell cams on our jobs all the time . Send me notifications soon anyone there . Rather someone cut $50 chain or lock than tear down $500 gate .

Locks are for honest people. The camera/ dummy camera has been a good alternative
