I picked 130 watermelons outta my backyard garden this year. Moon and Stars Georgia Rattlesnake Sugar Baby All Sweet Jubilee Next year I'm gonna grow Estrella, Nunhems, Maybe some Jubilee and Yellow Dolls Not bad for a patch that's 60 feet by 40 feet in the city. https://photos.app.goo.gl/pcRMYpGHguzt5B4b8

I'm gonna have to buy seeds every year. If I want to plant more than one variety of melon. I don't have enough space to hide them from the pollinators so they don't cross pollinate. That sucks

Nice! I grew Jubilee in my backyard one year and was amazed they even grew in the suburbs. Got 2 big ones.

Next year try growing some desert King yellow watermelons. They are by far my favorite. Most will be 20-25 pounds but every year I'll have 5-6 pushing 40 pounds. Disease and drought tolerant too. I planted those this year and got a 45lb one that looked like a beach ball. I only got 5 total this year but they all were 30# up. I ordered about 10 heirloom varities last week. Will give them a go next year.
Ethical behavior is doing the right thing when no one else is watching - even when doing the wrong thing is legal. Aldo Leopold .. (except when it comes to trailer tags)
