The WMS dove magnet survived the kudzu, the drought in June, and the army worms. That first Pic is Sesame and the upper field is loaded with it. The lower field is mainly brown top millet, but it's doing great. I'll be spraying the lower field Saturday and will cut and burn it after it browns up.

Then do the same with the upper field in a couple weeks.

Hoping this draws them in.

That dove magnet is pretty good stuff. I just don't understand why they mix milo and sesame in with millet that matures in half the time.

Or the sunflower. None of the sunflower made it past the drought anyhow because the birds smashed them all. The Milo looks real pretty and came up real good, but I've only seen one or heads make it past the deer and the army worms. For me, the Sesame, foxtail and brown top millet did the best out of everything in the bag.

All seed heads should be good to go in week and a half, then I'll be spraying.

I always liked to cut mine 2x's. 1st pass just try to hit the tops and knock the seeds out. 2nd pass I will cut it low. I found out if I drop it all the way down 1st pass some of the heads were still attached to the stems like a hay cutter would leave.
Let it lay and completely dry a few days and burn it! Trust me.

Corn and sunflowers are looking good. Do y'all spray herbicides on your field's? Morning glorys and other greenier are thick and running up stalks

Yep. I learned this the hard way. It was retaining more moisture than it looked like.

That field will likely regenerate on its own next year. I noticed yesterday I got a decent patch thick with millet where my old dove field washes down into my hayfield. Those seeds washed in that low spot and came up. I have not sown millet in over 3 years. Year 2 it was still good. Last year it was very thin but enough to draw birds. Tilled it all just to throw wheat this year.

I bushhogged about an acre of it yesterday evening. As dry as it is i expect to see combines running next week. Hundreds of acres of picked corn may make them scatter

Yep afraid that around here corn will start being picked right around the opener.

Im afraid of the same. Fairly large corn field about 1.5 miles from my house and I noticed this week it is completely brown. Nobody can hunt it, always scatters my birds when they pick it. They are known to leave a crop in the field late so maybe it wont get cut before opener.
