The Scout III is definitely NOT as good a deal
BUT
Still a really good deal for what you are getting. I got one we use these when hog hunting at night for scanning and they work well enough. To have everyone out there with a weapon mounted thermal means everyone is pointing a loaded gun all over the place. We have done well just having 1-2 shooters and anyone tagging along is using one of these hand help models to help scan. Good setup. Otherwise very pricey at it's retail price for just a scanner. Don't over think it at these prices.

I went ahead and bought the scout 3. Not what I wanted nor is it as good as the LAXR but I’ve always wanted a thermal and I don’t know of a better way to get a half way decent one for $500. Maybe I’ll regret it when I get it but I’m willing to take a $500 gamble.

Missed out on the LAXR but bit on the Scout III. I'll compare it to the LTO and sell off the lesser of the two.
