Ko2’s aren’t new shoes, Ko3’s are.

Don’t let your tire shop sell you old clearance items !

https://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/auto/tire-highlights/all-terrain-t-a-ko3

On my terrain which is bad limestone and flint, Nitto is the worst, they suck !

There are only two types of tires, Street or Mud, AT’s are not all dat ! The best street to take you up until needing a switch to MT is Michelin LTX Defender

I’m all in on BFG and Michelin now because I use my stuff on harsh terrain and that Linear Flex Zone is a real thing.

I have the Recon Grapplers and I love them. You get alot of miles out if them if you get them balanced and rotated. And they have a 50,000 mules warranty and the grapplers dont

Heavy tires wear out your axles, tranny, engine and everything faster.

I had a set of BFG KO2 Muds. They didn't last long, and were way higher than competitors, but I just had to have them.
Having said that, those things will go. Especially if you let some air out. And... they were "quieter than they looked" on pavement.

I’ve run ko2 for several decades. Last couple of sets were very difficult to balance, taking 4+ oz of weight each.

Put on a set of toyo open country a/t this time and they’re running with less than 0.5 oz of balance weight…

Too bad, as I liked the ko2s, but they just would stay balanced for long

I sell them all. Up until recently I would say Ridge Grapplers. Ive ran them exclusively for several years. They are not what they used to be. They will last forever but, they will start to roar at around 25k regardless of rotation schedule. I'm replacing them left and right. KO2's as stated above have been difficult to balance lately. Recon Grapplers seem to be doing well. I have them on my sons truck. Toyo Open County AT3 seems to be the best out there right now. Balance well and relatively quiet. I sell 600 to 700 tires a month so this is real world experience

I got right at 10k out of my Toyo open country new models and replaced them 4 months ago going back to Michelin. The ride was comfortable and they did good on wet pavement and rocks but they still got ate up, never a puncture though.

The two I mentioned up top are the only ones I can get 20-30k out of. Any other brand takes hits the first trip to my ranch and are ate up by 10k.

If I was on normal Alabama type stuff Toyo Open Country, Mickey Thompson Baja Boss, Duratrac RT, or General Grabber AT’s do pretty good. I really don’t waste my time with AT’s anymore after the LTX

Toyo AT3 second set in my f250. Got. A little over 55,000 miles in the last set.

Thanks. While we got you here, how is it that a tire here and there, OR a whole series of Tires can experience balance issues ? We can comment on Aldeer from orbit, but we can't figure out Tires ?

My friend here wants to know if you have actually been to Tire College ?

I have to blame it on the human element. QC at the manufacturer not doing their job or someone making the decision to use molds beyond there limits. JMO.

BFG used to be #1. I sell very few by choice now. They are terrible. Especially 35x12.50R20. They are shaped like an egg. It's got to be the mold. I can balance a brick but, it'll still ride like a brick.

I have no experience with Nittos but I can’t see me buying anything but KO’s as long they are available. I have never had a a better tire.

I was hoping you'd know I was just funnin' with you. Ever fool with the old Armstrong Tru-Tracs ? I had a shop that used to shave em' back round and send you down the road. Soft compound.
Never lasted but had a cult following.

KO2s for me. However, I’ve never run a tire. I ride on them. Maybe that’s why I’ve had such good luck with them.

If the new K03’s are made out of the same materials as the LTX Defender, its a tuff customer!

Ridge Grapplers by a long shot. Had both. Couldn’t keep KO2s balanced and they were bad about holding mud and rocks. Ridge outperformed off-road also imo. That said I put recons on wife’s 4runner this spring and most likely what I will put on my truck once the stocks wear down. Ridges are more aggressive than I need nowadays.

Ridge Grapplers a lot better tire. Toyo not on your list but way better than BF KO.

I’m a KO2 fan. Little heavy, but ride smooth and wear well. Not loud at all. Do what I want them to do. I’d probably be better off with a mud tire, but I don’t want to listen to them when I rarely need them. BFGs have done everything I’ve asked them to.
