I wish I had been able to pick one up at this price. I saw this thread to late unfortunately.

Im not unhappy with the flir. Its great. But i gave $1070 for my Rattler v2 and its not far behind the flir FLIR hasn't been exactly keeping up the last few years in this market segment. For $500 is still a great capability at an amazing price point. I agree. I glad to have it. Before i bought my rattler a couple months ago, i hadnt had any experience with thermals. Ive looked through a few now and the rattler v2 256 appears to be the best deal for the money. Except this $499 flir.

Did anyone hear back from the company regarding the replacement with the 10% off? I know someone earlier had asked for a different replacement, curious if they took the bait... I asked if the 640 model was available and they said no, only the 320.

Played with mine this morning since it was still charging as I went to bed. No long range testing but my dog lit up and was very bright and well defined imaging of my yard and surroundings. Zoom worked well. This will come in handy from time to time.
Thanks RidgeRanger for the heads-up!! Much appreciated!

I asked if the 640 model was available and they said no, only the 320. I haven’t heard back. Probably won’t. Just so y’all know, my dad ordered one and was charged even though it was on back order. He didn’t want the scout 3 and asked for a refund. They charged him again instead of refunding and he was having a little trouble getting in touch with them yesterday. I’m hoping they make this right. They are about to get a call from his bank and hopefully that’s as far as it has to go.
This is Aldeer! The place people come to vent their frustrations and completely change their stance a few minutes later...

A good chunk of aldeer is now thermal equipped (on more thermal equipped). That's a good thing, not just for fun but because of the deteriorating world we live in. The handheld units should be handy for everything from security to helping find the neighbor's lost dog.

I left early Monday morning. Got my wife to charge. Got back last night and went out and was looking at the dogs in pen when a deer snorted at us about 150 yards. Zoomed in on her and painter her red. I'm impressed with the quality.

I got there too late for the really good one, but got a Scout III. Most impressed.
Glad to hear that you got one. The Scout III should serve well. My guess is that its the exact same unit as the LSXR except the exterior color and sensor resolution. It will probably perform the same except maybe the digital zoom may get pixelated earlier. Neither provides the wow factor image quality of more current units but they are a heck of a deal at this price point.
