No, the virus is species specific and deer fibromas are not known to occur in or affect humans. It’s caused by a couple of viruses, which can be transmitted by biting insects or contamination from other deer. It’s not highly contagious. It usually takes an abrasion or cut to penetrate the skin for transmission.
