Does Bent Creek Lodge still have the Bow School?

I went when I was in High School. It was enjoyable, educational, and you get to hunt too. If it’s still offered you’ll learn a good bit.

Dr. Shepherd from Carrolton used to be one of the "teachers". Several years ago I hunted in a club that adjoined his property east of Carrolton. Our camp house was across the street from his house. He knew that I was a bowhunter and invited me into his home one day. The man had a big basket on the hearth with a dozen or so 130-140 racks in it. If he's still associated with the bow school I imagine even a seasoned bowhunter could learn something..

I got to meet Dr. Shepherd about 25 years ago when I sub leased some property from him. Still remember seeing that basket of racks. Spent a couple of hours with him that day as we looked over the property. He is probably one of the best bowhunters in the state. He has a wealth of knowledge and doesn’t mind sharing it. Still using tips of his til this day. He was saddle hunting back then. Long before it became the “cool” thing to do.

That’s actually not bad if it includes a hunt and lodging.

Yeah you get lodging, meals, an education AND apply what you’re learning in the field on their property. It’s not a bad deal.

I remember reading his book many years ago and it was great. He’s a wealth of knowledge and like someone mentioned, he doesn’t mind sharing all he’s learned over the years
