I have an old sears bow (guessing 1950's) that I am trying to find a string for so my 12 year old can start shooting. The only numbers on it are 45# and then under it it has 270 88.

I had taken an old Hawkeye bow to a local bow shop last year and the guy still hasn't put a string on it. So, I am grabbing this one. I do have a couple Bear bows with strings, but the pull is too much for a 12 yr old. (which this sears bow might also be a bit much).

Any help on what those numbers might mean would be greatly appreciated. Or how to determine the right string length.

Need to know whether it’s a recurve or a long bow and what the length of the bow is to determine the string length.

It is a recurve and is 61 and 3/8 inches long.

you will need a 57.375 inch string. if it has reinforced tips you can use dynaflight 97 or 8125 material. if it does not have reinforced tips you have to use b55 material on it
