I had the pleasure of working with Caden’s dad, Jamie, when he was the AD at the former Cathedral Academy in Selma. I was the AD at Evangel Christian and we were in the ACSC conference. Jamie was an outstanding college player and played in the Arena football league. He struggled with his problems but overcame them and has an incredible testimony.

I actually talked to Jamie tonight and he told me he was at peace knowing where Caden was spending eternity and that being an organ donor was helping to save others with his sacrifice.

I didn't know Jamie was a good ball player. I knew he was a good guy from his time working in the City Rec office for the City. Now he runs Grindle Tire Co. in Selmont.

I read elsewhere that it was an injury suffered in a game.

A teammate's father is a surgeon and came out to check on him and immediately knew it was more than a concussion and called the paramedics to the field and pulled out his phone and called for Lifeflight. Flown to UAB and was kept alive long enough for organ donation arrangements to be made. Mutual friends say that the UAB docs said that even if it had happened in the ER they wouldn't have been able to save him. Most likely a preexisting condition exacerbated by hitting his head causing a brain bleed.
