All of our fields are planted in beans, roughly 200 acres total. Every property within large radius is in beans. I say that just so you know that I don’t have the only bean field in an area. We’ve had beans before and I’ve never had issues across the property with decimation of crops from deer. For 5 years or so Our farmers have been worried about deer, I’ve never saw an issue, so far. Here are two pictures from one part of the property. Pretty normal looking, what I would expect. We’ll call this field A Here is field B. It doesn’t even look like it was planted. My thought was maybe a planter messed up, but I asked our farmer and I’m told it was from deer damage. I have no reason to think he wouldn’t tell my his actual thought on it. Have any of you had experience with this much damage? Especially from fields so close to each other? It’s weird to me because these fields are only about a thousand yards from each other.

That’s crazy if it’s really from deer It’s probably the largest field in this particular tract, I just can’t believe deer hit it that hard and didn’t move down the tree line to another field. But maybe I’m wrong.

Only a John Deere could cause that much damage.

No way that's from deer. I would have to see that with my own eyes to believe it. I've hunted places where there is some crazy deer densities and never seen anything like that. I guess they drilled it in? Yes, drilled

My guess, wrong herbicide or the wrong seed was planted. That field was sprayed to be that clean. Farmer wanting lease money back? Happened to me several years ago. I got what I thought was three bags of Croplan 9009 RR corn, one bag was conventional. Filled the four planters, everything looked great a few weeks later and sprayed gly. It was very obvious one of the bags wasn’t RR a couple days later.

I'd say herbicide carryover from another crop is a possibility
"Cull" is just another four letter word...

chemical or environmental differences (slopes of the field, elevations difference , soil differences etc)
i treat lawns for a living and i have 50-60 stops with 2 houses side by side. one will always look better than the other one, they’re never equal even though i do the same thing to both of them every time im there.
Give me bout 15 more minutes, I was dreamin about beavers.......... Si Robertson

I had a big beautiful corn field last year and about the time I went back to cut the corn it looked like your second picture. I told my boy someone had came in and bushhogged my corn field. I started walking around looking for tracks and it was all hog tracks. It looked like it was bushhogged like what’s in your second picture. In my opinion deer graze so there should be some browse still around on that one field. It looks like it might have got sprayed and killed or the farmer was drunk and didn’t put any seed in the drill. I don’t see how there’s nothing green but if hogs moved in and ate the beans you got a real big problem now
Ain’t no hogs on this property. My guess was either the drill had a malfunction and didn’t seed right or there was an issue with a chemical. Of course, I’ll never know, but I do not believe it was ALL deer.

That is not from deer. To be from deer that would have to be the only field planted in a given area. We don’t have many deer but the ones here can’t even eat a 2 acre field down. They’re waist high. They’re only eating the top leaves. New growth happens, they move up the plant. Him telling you that is BS.
If it were from deer there would be rows of dead stems about 2” tall. There would also be random plants around the field. Maybe in a grassy or weedy spot.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Definitely not deer. That was probably a planting or herbicide issue..... We did have a few corn fields that looked like that after the army worms got to them.
