You can say that again. Towards the end of the video you can tell he realizes the seriousness of the event. I wonder how bad the gunshot wound was? 10mm must 've grazed his leg?

Probably the wildest bear attack footage I’ve watched was years ago when Fred Eichler was in a river in Alaska and a big Kodiak or grizzly charged his small boat. He had a split second to decide whether to shoot the bear or not and made an incredible shot on a charging bear. Dropped it immediately. If he didn’t shoot he’d be dead.

I've had a close call or two with browns and grizzly's but never that close. Not sure if he is just a super cool/chill dude or in shock or both.
One of the guides working for me in the Brooks Range was attacked while guiding caribou hunters. It took 3 days to get him out but he survived.

brown is a coastal bear, eats salmon. grizzlies is an inland bear and smaller. same family.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I always thought a brown bear and a grizzly bear were the same thing. Depending on who you listen to they are either the same species or there are multiple sub-species. SCI has several categories for grizzly bear and a few for brown bear. Having hunted and or guided: brown, Kodiak & grizzly I'd say they are different sub-species. SCI's rule is if the bear is killed within 100 miles of the ocean it's a brown bear and it is killed outside of that line it's a grizzly.
