Cash or check. I get a copy of drivers license and a picture of tag. I make them bring a contact name from the bank where they got the check. It worries me sometimes, but I don't meet sketchy people. You can't always tell, but they're are signs. I've had a few that were questionable, and I got them to meet me at the bank for money transfer.

Two of my friends had dirt bikes stolen that they had for sale on Marketplace.

One of them lives in Athens and met a guy in Town Creek at a church parking. Buyer wanted to ride it so they unloaded it and the dude just rode off and didn't come back.

My other friend met up with a would-be buyer in B'ham. The bike was in the back of his new F250. Buyer says he wants it and is going in the house to get cash. Goes behind the house, comes back and sticks a gun in my buddy's face. He took the truck and dirt bike. Cops caught him, but the truck was wrecked when the found him

They get away with this mess because it’s a rare occasion they actually get busted. Then if they do, they’re right back out doing it again. We live in the Wild West. I have to say if I was handed that check I wouldn’t think much about it. It does look legit. But I’m learning from this too. I think from now on any major sale I do will be done at the bank with a transfer there. These times are crazy.

Reloader, what is the details on that SXS? Make model etc, I’d just like to be an extra set of eyes looking for that to pop up for sale somewhere.

Sold my father in laws truck after his passing. We met the buyer at the bank to deposit the check to make sure it was real.

The preacher at my church sold his Kawasaki trail bike to a man in Birmingham that he met through Facebook marketplace. The buyer told our preacher he had no way to come and get it so our preacher delivered it to him in Birmingham. they met in a church parking lot and the buyer wanted to test drive it before turning over his cash. Buyer took off on the bike and was never seen again. Preacher called the LEO and they said this happens pretty often. The bike has never been seen again. I cant stand a thief-see my byline.

I know its a little late now, but if it will prevent this from happening to someone else, an Apple Air tag hidden on items for sale is a small cost for a little bit of security.

On a similar note: wife had a new iPad stole by a porch pirate last week.
She isn’t home, fedex driver(democrat) drops box, 10 minutes later a guy (democrat) parks on the street, walks across yard with a Walmart delivery bag, scoop and score.
I say they are in cahoots, but that’s just my theory. All on camera video.
